Statement regarding Dren’s Ban from Vegas Smash

Hello all,

The Vegas Smash Ultimate Code of Conduct Panel is making a clarifying statement regarding an announcement released a couple of weeks ago. We had released a statement regarding Darren "Dren" Marzen's indefinite ban from Vegas Smash events. We would like to thank everyone for their patience in the delay in releasing a detailed statement regarding the ban. The panel has been aiming to respect the privacy of all of the individuals involved. We would also like to assure everyone that we have taken concerns with transparency to heart. We understand that it allows everyone to make their own decisions and judgement regarding the situation and individual in question.

On October 11, 2022, Dren was banned from all Vegas Smash sanctioned events in response to his alarming behavior towards some of our community members for 6 months. This ranged from harassment to solicitation of sexual favors. Panel members have personally reached out to and maintained communication with Dren regarding his mental state, even going as far as to offer resources and direct him towards professional assistance. Since October, Dren's behavior has degraded further.

On December 13th, 2022, Dren's ban was extended indefinitely. Despite his removal from Vegas Smash events, Dren has continued to engage with the community by continuing to harass and even extorting community members who had lived in Dren's house. Dren has been observed posting threats towards these members on public spaces. Lastly, Dren has since been arrested on felony charges due to sexual assault. These types of behaviors do not reflect the values of the Vegas Smash Community. Dren is permanently banned from the Vegas Smash Community, with no chance of an appeal. This statement is being released with immediate urgency due to the belief that Dren is an active and immediate danger to others.
