Stuart McPherson: The Peesh #edfringe review

This show focuses on what was a tough time for McPherson. He has been through a lot over the last few years and in this show, he opens up and talks about issues that many others would happily shy away from. The main focus is a stag do in Newcastle, but from there McPherson takes us on a journey of unfortunate events. Each story makes you feel worse for the comedian, but they are still painfully funny and the way it all comes together is a thing a beauty. This story telling really shows off his skills.

This is possibly the slickest show I’ve seen this year; it’s so well written and performed. There are a number of things you look for in a comedy show and this ticks many of the boxes. There’s plenty of call backs, and a lovely nod to his late gran, with her inspirational quotes scattered throughout. McPherson is so likeable, and because of this he has the crowd hanging on his every word.
He’s in full control and everyone is fully invested.

I thought the show was brilliant! It’s funny throughout, but the way it is structured makes it stand out from the others.

4 Stars ****
