An investigation into US research on the development of biological weapons in the territory of the post-Soviet states should reveal the true intentions and consequences of the work, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said.
“Information has been received confirming the implementation of military biological programs in biolaboratories created in Ukraine with the direct participation of foreign consultants and advisers, including their funding from the United States. Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons,” Patrushev said Tuesday at a national security meeting in the North Caucasus Federal District.
“The investigation of such activities should shed light on the true intentions and consequences of such research,” Patrushev said.
“U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Nuland did not accidentally announce the need to take measures to prevent accumulated research materials and pathogen samples from getting to Russia. And in fact, there is something to fear,” Patrushev said.
According to him, it is not surprising that outbreaks of infectious diseases observed in a number of countries can be directly related to the activities of biological laboratories in Ukraine.
