My future as a professional simracer

Short version: I am stepping away from full-time/competitive simracing after PESC
Now for the long version:
This week, the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup is starting for its 2022 edition. This will most likely be my last big esport competition, at least as a full time simracer, as I will step back from professional simracing at the end of PESC.
I've decided to step down from competitive/professional/fulltime simracing this year and I will go back in March to a more "normal" life, working in HR as I used to before starting this simracing journey. I will still do PESC, but after that I'll be a lot less active on the competitive scene.
I've been lucky enough to be able to do simracing full-time for almost two years now, thanks to Coanda & VRS. It's been intense, and a unique opportunity to live from something that was just a hobby when I started more than 10 years ago. Both the simracing scene in general but also the competitive side of things, have evolved massively over the years and I have no doubt that it will keep growing as it gets more and more attention.
However, the reality for me is that it's not worth it anymore (both financially but also from a personal point of view, with so many weekends taken away by competitions). At 30 years old, I have to think about the future and that won't include being a professional simracer.
Still, I feel proud about the level I was racing at and on what I've achieved the past few years. Having the chance to participate to the biggest competitions with Coanda, racing against the best and on multiple platforms such as PESC on iRacing, LMVS on Rfactor 2 or SRO Esports on ACC, representing French simracing as the highest level. 2021 has been a relatively good year all around despite scoring only P10 in PESC as there was room for more.
But overall performance was great, and on multiple platforms, and I'm also very proud to have achieved a podium on 3 different international competitions on 3 different platforms (iRacing, rFactor 2 & ACC).
This journey has been amazing and I'll keep great memories of everything.
That doesn't mean I will stop simracing as I enjoy it way too much, but it will become a hobby again and something to enjoy in my free time, along with my Coanda teammates. And I am very much looking forward to see how simracing will evolve in the next few years, looking at how much it has changed already.
Big thanks to Coanda and VRS for their support since I joined, for their help in making this hobby a fulltime job for a couple of years, but also everyone who has given me support through streams and on social media, it's been a blast and I can't thank you enough for that.

En bref: Le PESC sera ma dernière grande compétition en tant que simracer professionnel.
Les explications:
Cette semaine, la Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup édition 2022 démarre. Ca sera ma dernière grosse compétition esport, du moins en tant que professionnel. J'ai décidé de retourner au mois de Mars à une vie plus "normale" et celle que j'occupais (à travailler en RH) avant de faire du simracing mon métier. Je ferai le PESC 2022, mais après ça, je serai bien moins actif sur la scène compétitive.
Durant ces 2 dernières années, j'ai eu la chance de pouvoir vivre du simracing grâce à la Coanda et à VRS. Ce fut intense, mais aussi incroyable de vivre de quelque chose qui n'était qu'un hobby il y a 10 ans lorsque j'ai commencé. L'évolution de la scène du simracing mais aussi des compétitions ont été incroyable et je n'ai aucun doute que ça va continuer ainsi dans les années à venir.
Cependant, la réalité est que cela ne vaut plus le coup pour moi (que ce soit financièrement, ou même sur un plan personnel à devoir sacrifier autant de weekends dans l'année). A 30 ans, je dois penser au futur et celui-ci ne sera pas en tant que simracer professionnel.
Ceci dit, je suis fier du niveau auquel j'ai évolué ces dernières années et de ce que j'ai accompli, que ce soit sur iRacing avec le PESC, rFactor 2 avec LMVS ou encore ACC avec le SRO Esport, à représenter la Coanda mais aussi le simracing français au plus haut niveau. 2021 a été une année plutôt bonne avec une P10 au PESC, même s'il y avait de la place pour faire mieux. Globablement ceci dit, je suis satisfait de ma performance, et ce sur plusieurs plateformes, et également fier d'avoir pu scorer un podium dans 3 compétitions internationales différentes sur 3 plateformes différentes (iRacing, rFactor 2 & ACC).
Cette aventure a été incroyable et j'en garderai de très beaux souvenirs.
Cela na veut pas dire que je vais complètement arrêter le simracing, car j'aime bien trop ça, mais ça redeviendra un hobby comme ça l'était auparavant, que je continuerai de partager avec la Coanda. Et je suis curieux de voir comment le simracing évoluera étant donné combien ça a changé ces dernières années.
Je tiens en tout cas à remercier mon équipe, la Coanda et VRS pour m'avoir permis de vivre de ce hobby pendant 2 ans, mais aussi tout ceux qui m'ont soutenu durant cette aventure, que ce soit via les streams sur Twitch ou sur Discord/Instagram/Twitter etc.. ; votre soutien à été incroyable, merci à tous. ❤
