On Purple and Zalae

During the summer of 2020, Tina opened up about when Purple sexually assaulted her, and I believe her. Now that Tina has released her allegation, Purple has hired a lawyer to help him cover it up, and he has lied to the Hearthstone community about his innocence.

Tina released a tweet describing that Purple, while under the influence of alcohol, made unwanted sexual advances on her, crossing the boundary and touching her inappropriately.

Purple released a Twitter statement explaining that Tina’s allegation was “untrue” and that he is seeking legal action against her for defamation. This was a disgusting attempt to threaten, silence, and scare her as well as anyone else who may want to stand beside her in support.

This is why women don’t come forward about being sexually assaulted.

Because of people like Purple who, instead of taking responsibility for his actions and apologizing, has decided to gaslight Tina and say she’s lying about the incident or misconstruing the facts.

The reason I know all this is because I’ve spent hours talking to Zalae, and he confirmed that Purple did make unwanted sexual advances toward her. Based on what Zalae told me, what Tina alleged against Purple is true.

According to Zalae, Purple wanted to apologize at first, but Zalae convinced him to hire a lawyer and to not apologize because an apology of any kind (public or private) would be an “admission of guilt.” According to Zalae, Purple’s latest tweet was not written by him, but rather by a lawyer. That’s why it sounded so cold. I told Zalae that I believed the right thing to do is for Purple to take responsibility for his actions and to apologize, but Zalae responded by saying that Purple’s career, reputation, and sponsorships are on the line, and that Purple could go to jail over this. I felt sick to my stomach hearing Zalae say that.

I am extremely disappointed in Purple for choosing to not apologize and to not take responsibility for his actions. But really, I am most disappointed in Zalae for helping him to cover it up.

Zalae, you are part of the problem by minimizing what Purple did and trying to help him cover it up by hiring a lawyer and releasing a false statement which accuses the victim of lying.

Purple, you should take responsibility for what you did and apologize to the victim.

A year and a half has passed, but a Blizzard and Twitch should still take action on this. I am so sorry I didn’t speak out sooner, I was truly afraid for myself and the backlash I would receive for saying this. But all this time has passed and I still feel very angry about what happened. I stand by this statement, and want justice.
