Clearing confusion regarding how I sound/speak
Been getting a lot of questions about this so thought I'd make a post to make things clear. I get asked a lot if I'm actually British and from the UK because they can't hear my accent. Yeah, I was born in the UK and have lived here all my life.
The reason you don't hear my accent is because I hide it. Subconsciously now since I've been doing it for a REALLY long time. I've been on the internet since good ol' dial up days and playing games as a girl online wasn't always the best experience.. not to mention adding an accent on top of that. It would give me the extra attention I didn't want, I just wanted to play games. So I hated speaking online. This got worse by an ex making fun of how I pronounced things and how I spoke so I just started talking in an american accent to fit in.
I've been doing it for so long that I don't really have control over it, my brain just automatically hears an american accent and it just switches. If I speak to someone British my British accent comes out. I've been trying really hard to just speak how I usually do for streams but it's difficult with my fear just kicking in and making me regress back to how I'm used to speaking online. I hope this clears up any confusion as I get asked this question a lot when I'm streaming and in DM's.
