RE: 12 month ESIC Bans

Specifically talking about the 12 month bans for just betting on matches I don't think it was made clear to most players on that list that this was a bannable offence.

ESEA's own rulebook during last season stated betting on your own games, regardless of bet placement will result in a ban. There was no mention in the rulebook about betting on the league itself and no mention of ESIC anywhere - https://web.archive.org/web/20201022112949/https://play.esea.net/content/league_rules_CSGO (22/10/2020 2 weeks into the MDL season)

After the intial ESIC ban wave for players that broke that rule, ESEA's rulebook was updated to include - "As per Valve’s announcement, we would recommend that anyone competing in tournaments and competitions in CS:GO does not place any bets on CS:GO. ESEA will continue to work with ESIC to identify and place bans on those attempting to use insider information and match manipulation for their own personal gain."

Moral questions aside these players were banned for 12 months even though they followed ESEA's own rulebook which didn't mention ESIC anywhere - https://i.gyazo.com/90d873fd626cff6fc23086760b0ee324.png

I'm not sure how they were supposed to know to visit ESIC's website and read the code of conduct. Prior to the coach ban wave I don't think anyone had even heard of ESIC before let alone know that they cover ESEA.

Haven't even touched on the seemingly crazy appeal process that costs $500 to start, feels like things are out players hands when bans like this are handed out and without any evidence to boot.
