Eggman in the SMBZ Reboot
Okay. Time I addressed the egg shaped elephant in the room.
Having Eggman revealed so early in the reboot wasn't a decision I came to lightly and was a small part of the reason behind episode 2's long delay. It ends up eliminating his apparent death at the hands of Metallix during Sonic's backstory which will occur in the following episode.
At the same time though, I wanted more opportunities to explore the dynamic between Bowser and Eggman's uneasy alliance. Since I left it so late in the original series, I didn't really have much time to have the two main villains interact with one another.
Then of course, keeping him in the shadows is something I have always regretted in hindsight. It's so painfully obvious who the "mysterious scientist" was. Eggman only has one of the most iconic designs in gaming. It was a really dumb decision that I now plan to correct.
In the long run, I think this will only benefit the story. I'm sure some people will prefer the original approach, but give things time to play out and I may be able to change your mind.
