Dead or Alive 6/Tekken 7 “Controversy”

I’ll start by saying that I love both of these game series. Both hold a special place in my heart, and nothing will ever change that.

So let’s get real for a sec.

Dead or Alive 6 is not a good game. It’s obviously rushed, and many of the problems that the game before had were either not addressed at all, or made worse. The ground game has gotten worse, sidestep attacks have invincibility (that’s not how sidesteps work), most of the DLC is reused, certain characters STILL get away with murder while others keep getting beefed into the ground, and it just seems like TN and KT might be running out of ideas. All of us, the competitors, the content creators, and the viewers do what we need to do, but for some reason, this game keeps slowing down.

BUT AGAIN, I LOVE THIS SERIES.
Hell, I ACTUALLY LIKE DOA6, but there needs to be some changes made. There are other games that exist that have similar problems that were stated above, but they know how to remain relevant, without trying to capitalize on what other companies do.

Tekken 7 is not perfect. Supers exist, yes, when the player is almost dead, but it takes away from those late-in-the-round reads due to the Rage Arts having armor. Speaking of which, THERE ARE ARMORED LAUNCHERS IN A TEKKEN GAME. I don’t know how y’all feel about that, but that to me does not belong in a Tekken game. I play Negan, and I still think I shouldn’t have his f+1+2 (it’s a MID too). The console version of this game it TERRIBLE, and so is the matchmaking in general.

So my grievances out of the way, here’s the hot topic: Frame Data.

DOA has had frame data in the game at least since 5, correct me if I’m wrong. Tekken’s frame data had to be made available through community efforts such as RBNorway, and T7 Chicken. I have a problem with retaining numbers. I have Dyscalculia, which is Dyslexia with numbers, and part of that makes it hard to retain numeric information. What usually helps me with this aspect of fighting game is having the frame data in short reach with DIRECT application, which makes me really appreciate games like Skullgirls, VF, DOA, MK, KI, and others. The fact that we would have to pay for frame data in Tekken soon is kind of a bummer, but $4 ain’t shit. Yes, the fact remains that information that has been made readily accessible in so many games for so long will now cost, and that sucks, but this is a great step in a Japanese developer doing away with old habits, and adapting to the needs of the players of today. Be happy that changes are happening.

TLDR
Stop with this rivalry shit. Most of y’all don’t go to events. DOA 6 needs help. T7 still has armor crap. Rollback netcode for all. I like cheese. Good night.
