Ray Badran: Everybody Loves Ray, Man #edfringe review
I leave the venue thinking "for someone who appears to be so raw, why is this show so good?"
Ray has such a laid back style; you don’t expect anything more. You certainly don’t expect there to be any structure, but there is. There’s everything in here: setup, call backs; the lot.
On reflection it would appear Ray may be a lot smarter than he cares to make out. He paints himself as this laid back, says-it-how-it-is Aussie that, in his own words, “is always making mistakes”. However, there is more to him than meets the eye.
This was a stunning debut hour from what has to be one of the most exciting up-and-coming comedians out there. Aussie comic Ray Badran is hilarious from start to finish, and by "start" I mean from the day the brochure arrived at my door; I love his “Everybody Loves Ray, Man” title.
The show starts strong and continues to grow. His material is relatable but hilarious; simple observation comedy that is laugh out loud funny, the kind that makes you think “why have I never thought of this?”.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s room for improvement but I have no doubt that this will happen over time. Ray should be proud as he has come up with a brilliant little show and I’m already looking forward to next year's.
