End of the line

Today, I'll be quitting Rocket League. On Wednesday, myself and a friend got approved to work on a project for our dissertation that is essentially my dream project. To put it simply: Rocket League requires around 30-40 hours a week to be competitive. If I kept that up, I wouldn't be able to dedicate myself to my dissertation to the degree I want to. Similarly, if I decreased the time spent on RL, I would no longer be as competitive, which I have no interest in. Furthermore, since it seems likely that my future work career will revolve around the same concepts, it makes sense from both a short and long-term perspective. Of course, there are some additional factors, but these are the major ones. I've had some good experiences in the time I've been in the scene: I was flown to LA, ended up with some spare change and got the chance to explore that weird industry called esports from the inside (and how dodgy it often is!). Now though, I'm out.
