Mechanically, I kinda like it so far. They may have gone slightly overboard with the "WE REALLY LOVE SLOW ANIMATIONS" thing. I played the Cleric starter kit and your hammer is so slow but they really go OTT on making it seem like you just split the earth with it everytime you swing it. There's a certain appeal to that. The rogue kit is really fast though, so it's not like there aren't options if you prefer not waiting 3 seconds for your animation to finish. I found the different weapon sets to all have unique nuances. I got this fiery greatsword from the first boss which I had to really level up my strength to use. The first swing of it has a ridiculously long windup, but the followup is very quick, so you have to learn some interesting timing windows. There's definitely more direction than Dark Souls, it does exposition in a much more traditional way, though it still leaves you to explore areas without a map. So far it seems alright, I'm enjoying it, but I got a long way to go before I can give any definitive opinion
