I read some feedback regarding the length of my videos. Some people are of the belief that they need to be "pared down" and that the points could be made more concisely. While they are probably right, my personal opinion based on the feedback from my regular viewers is that lengthy videos are just what they are looking for, simply because most channels do not provide that. Even if I end up repeating myself, they are getting more gameplay footage to look at which helps them make a purchase decision and many viewers like the videos as podcasts in the background. Our primary demographic is 25-34, so a lot of young professionals which I imagine means that where possible, people are listening to these videos in the background at work or on their lunch break and they're the ideal length for that. Our retention rates are pretty high for the most part, though it varies depending on the game. For some WTF is we lose a ton of viewers in the first couple of minutes when they simply decide they're not interested in the game. The length of the video is irrelevant at that point, but then we have plenty that stay all the way to the end because they simply want to watch a WTF is regardless of what the game is.
Ultimately what matters from a business standpoint is whether or not they're watching the ads. If people turn off before the end it doesn't really make a difference and the viewers that come back everyday for long-form content will continue to consume that long-form content and would be disappointed if we changed it. I'm adopting the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mantra with this one. We occupy a nice niche in which we have a certain amount of market dominance and viewership continues to grow. There are plenty of places to find shorter-form content, I mean, that's why you read articles right? Shorter-form is not what we produce.
