Thoughts on CS2

Before sharing my initial thoughts I just want to let you guys know this is based on one day of a beta with a total of 30 minutes DM, a shortmatch and 15-30 minutes running around on a server testing stuff. I am going to split things into categories and give it X/10 but if you CBA to read here's a

TLDR:
Generally more positive than I thought I would be, shooting feels good, game looks decent, I love the new sounds, but hate the change they did with the HE removing smokegrenades for 3-4 sec.

Gunbehavior and general feeling of playing 8/10
Generally I don't think there's a huge difference from CSGO and I could imagine I would get use to it within a week or something like that. I am happy that it hasn't changed much, it's mostly the scout, deagle and ak47 that changed for me. The score of 8/10 is based on the fact that I don't feel blown away by improvements, but just happy that they managed to port the feeling of CSGO into CS2. Good job Valve!

Map design, general look of the game 7/10
While I think I stand pretty alone with this, I think the game looks a bit too cartoon-ish. I like the fact that it is way brighter and it more colors, CSGO looks very boring compared to CS2, but I think this could've been achieved without taking inspiration from fortnite and valorant. I hope and think most of it is about getting use to it. Again I am happy that they managed to make changes and it looks good, while still making it look like Counter Strike.
Besides that the skyboxes have been completely removed. I think that is totally fine, we will probably come up with a few new cool ideas and if we don't, we will just watch ropz demos or maybe BIG demos and we will steal it from them. No problemo!

Utility 5/10
Yes I know. We CS players are often not open to changes to our beloved game. I think that has become better the past few years, but this one is a bit too much to say the least. I actually like the idea that you can shoot the smoke and it is more revealing for whoever initiates the spambattle. I think that is a good and fair replacement to removing oneway smokes and the HE bug, where you could see "shadows" of people through the smoke that you were not suppose to. BUT the new HE mechanic of making the smoke literally disappear for 3-4 sec. is too much. It will change the way CS is played forever and you have to be very careful when changing fundamental parts of CS that has been there since the beginning. I am not a fan and I hope they come up with something else or just removes this completely and this is not just me being your typical CS player that hates changed I put a lot of thoughts into it, I tried and I am coming to the same conclussion over and over.
Besides that I really enjoy the new mollies, I think they look great and they managed to remove this stupid black smoke over the fire that needed special settings to see through when close up, but other settings when far away. Besides that there's a small change to flashes where even when you dodge them, you still lose your ability to hear for some time and I don't mind it honestly. So besides the HE into smoke mechanic. Good job Valve!

Sounds! 10/10
I really enjoy the sounds in the game. Everything from gunsounds, steps, grenades and a big thing that kinda went under the radar, when dropping different things, it makes different noices. Meaning that you can do some fun mindgames with dropping the bomb and other things to troll your opponent. I am sure people will be creative! In general super good job on the sound part to Valve, I feels satisfying to hit a headshot, not only with deagle, but with any weapon. Great job!

128 tick or no tick or.. ?/10
I am in Malta with a suboptimal ping and it is very hard for me to judge if this system is working well or not.

Overall score 8/10
For the game to be in beta and with so many things already working to a point where you don't twist your toes while playing it I am actually positive that Valve will nail this one in the end, especially if they keep involving the community feedback and taking in opinions from people in the industry. Now we can discuss the timing of it all, since I was planning on having the best year of my career right now with G2 and this might make things complicated but this is not the time to be selfish!

Thanks for reading!
