SCG CON Health and Safety Clarification

Last week, we launched the minisite for July 8-10’s SCG CON Syracuse. Although it’s Health and Safety section still included a mask requirement, it no longer included the vaccine/negative COVID test requirement that had been in place for prior events. Some players have contacted us requesting more information on this change.

Previously, many governing bodies strongly recommended vaccine/negative COVID test and/or mask requirements be in place, and our events have required both. However, in recent months, most governing bodies have significantly relaxed or removed such restrictions. Many large-scale gatherings, from major TCG tournaments to professional sporting events, have crafted or modified their policies accordingly.

When discussing the Health and Safety policies for our events taking place in July and beyond, every member of our SCG CON leadership team agreed that it made sense to continue requiring attendees wear masks inside our event halls. However, we also agreed that the vaccine/negative COVID test requirement was no longer effective at its intended purpose. Because of this, we decided to leave all previously announced policies in place and to modify our policies accordingly starting with SCG CON Syracuse on July 8-10.

We realize that some players may disagree with our decision, and encourage everyone to evaluate their personal level of acceptable risk when traveling and/or attending large events.

As always, Star City Games recommends that everyone able to be vaccinated against COVID-19 do so and we ask that players be responsible and stay home if they are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
