My retirement as a player - My future as a coach!

Hello,

Today, I would like to announce that I retire as a player from competitive League Of Legends. Before I am explaining my decision, I would like to thank all the teams and players that put trust in me and worked with me in the past 4 years. Being able to start your career with 23 and do what you love was a great experience, and I have absolutely no regrets investing that time and trying my to become the best player I can be. I traveled to different countries, I played on stage in front of fans, I got to know my fiancé and one of my best friends Ben. I look back at that time always with a smile, and I am really proud about the achievements I worked for every day.

Why do I retire as a player?
The strengths I had as a player since day one was never my individual game play, it was rather my energy, game knowledge, work ethic and motivation to become the best player I can be. I have a really great talent in motivating people around me and creating the best working environment for everyone. Compared to that, my gameplay and individual skill was always mediocre, which lead up to an imbalance. I knew that my game knowledge and work ethic is on a really high level, which made me set myself high goals as a player and I pressured myself a lot during my career. So instead of continuing as a player I decided to capitalize on my strengths in the future and become a coach, because I can profit from my work ethic, my knowledge and my natural talent to motivate people around me and I do not need to press buttons ingame which was in retrospective my weakness.

What motivates me to become a coach?
Esports and traditional sports is a part of my life since 2002. I started watching Warcraft 3 and Quake Arena in a really early stage of my life, and on top of that I was a player and coach in traditional sports for 10 years. Because of that, I developed into a competitive person. No matter what I do in my life, I want to try to become the best. Even though I am not playing anymore, I want to compete with others and help players to develop in a positive way.

As I mentioned before, my biggest strength as a player was always my game knowledge, work ethic and my motivation to be really close to the staff to work on drafts and theory craft about the current meta. Especially, the jungle role in a competitive setting forces you to understand all the other lanes as well, because your pathing and decision-making is getting decided by wave states and lane match-ups. I invested a lot of time in understanding the map and the game on a high level, which made me become a better player.

On top of that, I felt like the work with Summoners Inn as an analyst for ProDiv/Worlds/LEC made me realize how much I enjoy analyzing and talking about the game. I understood that I don't need to play the game to enjoy it and how much impact the coaching staff has. A better draft and better preparation gives your team a heavy advantage, and I want to be able to that for my team as well.

My future and off-season:
I am 110% confident in my decision and I will implement the same mentality I had as a player to become the best coach I can be. In the near future I can share some big news already, but until then I will invest my time to have smooth transition from a player to a coach. I want to continue with my work in front of the camera because I feel really comfortable doing that. Working for Summoners Inn is a pleasure, and I'm looking forward to continue doing that.

With that being said, I am officially looking for a team in summer as a coach!
Thanks for everyone reading this and supporting me during my career as a player!

Love you all,
Outlandisch out!
