KBU, Me and My Future - Appreciation!

Hello friends, colleagues, fans, and the overall Dota 2 community.

My name is Ilyas Kauken. I am more known in the Dota scene as Steel-_-Borco. I am a professional Dota 2 player and I have a message to deliver to everyone who knows me.

For couple of years, I had been thinking of quitting Dota for good. I had lots of wonderful time spent playing with players and seeing their success and qualifications on TI, I did my best playing in every game that I had played as well as in officials and pubs. I am glad that I got a chance to play for Team Spirit the organization that won TI afterward. Last year was very stressful for me mentally when I got banned from Valve. It was a tough situation to be in. Even in pubs, I got some random people whom you see first-time people put that label on me and calling me names and even after unban still people were putting that label on me. Despite that, I am glad that Valve, ESL, and BTS did a proper investigation unlike just banning everyone even those players who weren't involved. Much appreciation to everyone who was working on that case!

Furthermore, I am thankful to everyone that I have met alongside in my Dota career. I sincerely wish all players the best of luck in their careers and may you guys get success out of Dota and outside of it. We spent a lot of hours in Dota 2 and the game is stressful enough games are always depending on small things and we need proper communication with the other 4 players who could be acting immature in pubs or even in officials and it matters a lot and the team atmosphere might be doomed.

For the past two months, I lost my interest in playing pubs and I lost my desire of hitting 9k and 10k becoming rank 10. I feel like as we get older we get so many responsibilities that we need financially independent, but on tier 2 in North America at least there are no salaries, no organizations which make many Dota players quit because of instability. Moreover, I have lost interest in playing pubs and ranked games because I feel like it is just a waste of my time, health, and emotions. Competitive-wise, we mutually agreed on me leaving KBU because I lost that fire in my eyes to Dota and now I look forward to my future.

I am not going to come back as a player anymore and that's a fact, but we shall see I might start cast games or become a team coach, which I see myself much suitable for that position and share my experience and knowledge with players, newcomer pub stars and so on.

Big thanks to Black Ice players, org, staff members, and everyone at Black Ice. neph&NeeNaw, felt gaming, Zore, pingu, Arkosh (gremlo&crow), monkeys, Husky, Samuel(Noblewingz), Brax, Mike, Migi, Yuma, Lama, Monster, God_Z, Shaggy, and there are tons of you other NA&SA friends, much love and hope to your success!
