Departure from Fnatic

A year and a half ago, I took a decision that broke my heart, but felt was necessary for my growth as a person, and as a coach. Leaving Rogue was one of the hardest thing I ever had to do. A few weeks after leaving the project I worked on for so long, I had the opportunity to join Fnatic, an opportunity I decided to take, and oh boy what a great decision that was.
Today, I am departing from Fnatic, with an even heavier heart. If leaving Rogue was hard, I still had the great memories of achieving great things. Leaving Dizzle, Mag, Lusty, Leo, Pat and all the boys I have worked with since joining breaks my heart even more. We never quite managed to bring ourselves to where we could be, we never succeeded to live up to our potential. If factors from within the team are of course to question, I can’t shake the feeling that everything could/would have been different if we pulled of the move to Japan.
It might sound a bit like an excuse from the outside, but I can’t emphasize enough the amount of work that was put by the Fnatic staff and especially Dizzle into the Japan move. A lot of what we worked towards as a coaching staff was designed for an environment we were never given a chance to work with due to visa restrictions that came with the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from the ping issue that impacted us, it is more about how much stress, anxiety and uncertainty was put on the team, never knowing when/if the move was going to happen.
Although it is no excuse to our performance, because we could and should have done a lot better, even under those conditions, it impacted the players and coaching staff more that you can imagine.
Leaving Fnatic is a very hard decision to take for me, but working from Europe on an Asian time zone has put a strain on my health that I can not ignore anymore. I bid farewell to every person I have worked with during my time there, and cherish every moment spent with great people.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this experience as good as it was.
Mag, MentalistC, Tex, Alphama, Stigs, Lusty, Acez, thank you.
Dizzle, I can’t explain how much you brought to me, how much you made me grow as a person and as an individual. You were the greatest mentor I could have hoped for and you will forever remain a great friend. Even though I bid you farewell for now, I will remember and cherish all the moments we shared, the laughter, the anger, the disappointment, the pride, everything. Thank you for giving me an opportunity of a lifetime.

As for my future, I will be looking for a new adventure in Europe and am now open to offers for T1/T2 jobs as coach or assistant coach. You can reach me through DMs, or at laurentrgpatriarche@gmail.com for CV, achievement or simply more informations.

Until next time,

Laurent “Crapelle” Patriarche
