The reasoning behind asking for nerfs to guns like the NA-45 and Akimbo deagles:

I know this is gonna trigger Reddit but at this point there’s not really anything I say these days that doesn’t, so might as well provide some helpful information while I’m at it.

The issue is not that “you don’t know how to counter them” but that they require significantly less skill to use than other guns in that category. Deagles are an instakill a close range with high rate of fire, making every other secondary obsolete from a competitive standpoint. The NA-45 allows you to get kills without even hitting your target, which means players with poor mechanics (aim, movement, etc) still have the same chance of winning a gunfight because it deals splash seam age, which is not true of any other non operator gun in the game.

These are the most basic changes that 98% of the community agrees on because of the general principle that in a competitive shooter with a ranked game mode, the player with the higher overall skill has the better chance of winning the gunfight.

The principle behind gun balance that a lot of the community doesn’t understand is not “they only think it needs a nerf because they died to it”, but that when the strengths of a gun vastly outweigh the rest of the meta, it effectively forces players to use it in a competitive environment unless they want to be at a disadvantage from the start. That’s the reason why the competitive scene has full time bans in specific guns (akimbo deagles, MOW, NA45, etc) and allows each team 1 gun ban per match. The goal is to eliminate the guns that give too much of an advantage in a specific range which in turn allows people to become specialized in specific weapon categories rather than being forced to all use the same 1/2 guns.

This is the reason why Call of Duty (and every other competitive shooter) has balance changes, the aim is for all weapons to be equally viable and minimize the chances of one of two guns being required in order to have an equal chance of winning. Obviously, there will never be perfect balance, but that doesn’t mean you just give up and stop caring.

A lot of people think people like Path and I want these balance changes because of our “massive ego’s” and we want to “play god”. In reality, we just wanna be able to use more guns.
