Shaheen Mackey Dies in Restraint Chair Repeatedly Tasered During Medical Emergency
Mackey, 41, spent his last moments alive, surrounded by a dozen cops, tied to a restraint chair, with a towel over his face, screaming in agony as he was repeatedly tasered — to death. Despite the facts of the case, a coroner’s report would rule that Mackey “died of natural causes,” and all the officers involved in torturing him to death were cleared.

“A video taken Sunday by a bystander shows the children, ranging in age from 6 to 17 years old, in a parking lot in Aurora, where there have recently been protests over the death of a 23-year-old Black man, Elijah McClain, who was stopped by police last year, KUSA-TV reported.
The video shows the 17-year-old and 12-year-old lying on their stomachs with their hands cuffed behind their backs and a 14-year-old girl lying next to the 6-year-old, also on their stomachs, in a parking lot next to the car. They can be heard crying and screaming as officers stand with their back to the camera. A woman on the other side of the car is shown being led away in handcuffs.
Police then determined they had stopped the wrong car. It had Colorado license plates but a motorcycle with the same license plate number from Montana was the vehicle that had been reported as stolen on Sunday.”

Police fired 55 times at Willie McCoy.
But body-camera footage, released after significant public pressure, cast doubts on parts of the police narrative. The videos only showed McCoy moving his hand to scratch his shoulder before officers opened fire. The police did not try to wake him up or announce that they were officers, and his family and their lawyers have said it seemed clear McCoy was not alert or awake when the police all opened fire.

‘I didn’t think I’d survive’: women tell of hidden sexual abuse by Phoenix police
The city’s police department has a history of sexual abuse cases. Studies suggest such misconduct is rampant in the US
“Once the 47-year-old woman attempted to record him with her phone, he grabbed her by the wrist, forced her out, pinned her against the car, handcuffed her and began his search – running his hands under her shirt, cupping her breast, and then moving his hands into her pockets and eventually down her pants and thigh, according to her account. As he moved her into the back of his patrol car, she thought of a Black woman like her, Sandra Bland, who was pulled over and died in custody three months prior. Anderson fainted.”

Sheriff Chuck Wright said Friday that a deputy had been charged after intentionally burning down a house.
Dylan Ellis, who served as a detention officer, was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center Friday morning on four counts of attempted murder and arson third degree.
Wright said Ellis was suspected of setting a fire on August 23 on Ridgeville Church Road in the Inman community. The fire was set at 4 a.m. while four people were sleeping inside.
Wright said a mother, her nine-year-old and 15-year-old children, and an elderly woman were in the house. The smoke detector awakened them and they made it out safely.

Every five days, a police officer in America is caught engaging in sexual abuse or misconduct. Others are never caught.
“The numbers are almost certainly higher. Sex offenses go widely unreported even when cops are not suspects. Victims may be even less likely to report offenses when they fear it will be their word versus an officer's. Police often prey on accursers with weak credibility, such as prostitutes, addicts or parolees.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg,” said former police officer Timothy M. Maher, now a criminal justice professor in St. Louis, whose research shows that police sexual misconduct is under-reported. Maher says most officers do not commit felony sex crimes. But he believes many offenses never come to light or are swept under the rug.
Detailed in The News data are some 160 offenses against young people. An Alabama officer raped a 13-year-old girl attending the school where he served as a crossing guard. A cop in North Carolina told a 14-year-old crime victim that having sex with him would prove she was telling the truth. A school resource officer in Arkansas climbed into a student’s bedroom window. He was 48. She was 16.
Sex-related misconduct generates more citizen complaints than any factor except excessive force, the Cato Institute, a libertarian think-tank tracking police wrongdoing, found in a 2010 study.”

Yetman was arrested in April of 2019 on 31 counts of possessing child pornography. That followed his first arrest in December 2018 on 40 counts of sexual abuse of an animal, where prosecutors say Yetman engaged in sexual conduct with a dog and possessed pornographic images of a person and an animal engaged in sexual acts. He’s pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Disturbing Video Shows a Cop Brutally Beat a Child for Riding Her Bike, Charges HER with Assualt. Clearly overpowering the small child, half his size, the officer wasn’t satisfied with the damage he’d inflicted so far. So, for good measure, Williams pulled out his taser and sent 50,000 volts into this poor girl.
“He was choking me, grabbed me by my hair and tried to slam my face into the concrete. The next thing I know, I’m on the ground being tased,” Tillman said. He remains employed with the Tacoma Police Department.

“Is it hot enough?” one of the four cruelly quipped, as Rainey’s skin literally cooked off his bones.

None of the cops were charged for their crime against humanity: “Rundle’s decision to clear the officers is largely regarded as one of the biggest stains on her 27-year career as Miami-Dade County’s top prosecutor. Now, as protests mount over the lack of police accountability in America, the Rainey case is receiving renewed attention ahead of Miami-Dade’s August 18 election, in which voters will choose to re-elect Rundle for an eighth term or install her progressive challenger, Melba Pearson, a former prosecutor in Rundle’s office who resigned her post as deputy director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida in order to run against her former boss.”

On the evening of Feb. 13, 2018, Foster had harmed no one, was not committing a crime and was simply riding his bicycle in downtown Vallejo unarmed. However, because he didn’t have the proper light on his bicycle, he was pursued by Vallejo police officer Ryan McMahon, who told investigators that he stopped Foster in order to “educate the public on the dangers that this person was creating for himself and the traffic on Sonoma Boulevard,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday.
This act of “education” turned out to actually be an act of execution. Foster was shot in the back of the head. No action was taken against McMahon for killing a man over a bicycle light stop, he was never fired, much less disciplined and went on to kill again the very next year. His victim, Willie McCoy, an aspiring young rapper, would be shot and killed in his sleep by McMahon and several other trigger happy cops.

Video Shows Laquan McDonald, 17, Shot by Police. “Video of the shooting shows that Van Dyke was advancing on McDonald, while McDonald was walking away from Van Dyke when the first shot was fired. The first shot hit McDonald, who spun and fell to the ground. As McDonald lay on the ground, still holding the knife, Van Dyke fired more shots into him. In total, Van Dyke fired 16 shots at McDonald in 14–15 seconds, expending the maximum capacity of his 9 mm semi-automatic firearm. Van Dyke was on the scene for less than 30 seconds before opening fire and began shooting approximately six seconds after exiting his car. The first responding officer said that he did not see the need to use force, and none of the at least eight other officers on the scene fired their weapons.”

A community is outraged after a father and U.S. Navy veteran was shot and killed by police while witnesses claim he was being a good Samaritan and trying to break up a fight, but when his handgun fell out of its holster and he reached to pick it up, police did not hesitate to open fire on him. The handgun was legal and the victim had a permit to carry it concealed.
The officer opened fire immediately and struck Jason Washington—the good Samaritan whose only participation in the fight was his attempt to stop it from happening.
“There was absolutely no hesitation at all. [The officer] went straight for his gun,” Smith said, noting that at the time he was shot, Washington had his back turned to police.
The officers responsible for the shooting were Shawn McKenzie and James Dewey. Both of them opened fire and they dumped 17 rounds into Washington.

Jersey City cops shown on video kicking man lose jobs, avoid jail time
Jersey City police officers will not face jail time but lost their jobs after they entered guilty pleas for charges stemming from their actions when they were caught on camera kicking a man after a fiery 2017 crash, authorities said Tuesday.
Police were chasing Leo Pinkston on June 4, 2017, at a high speed for 6 miles in Jersey City before Pinkston crashed into a car driven by Miguel Feliz-Rodriguez. Three officers fired shots at Pinkston's vehicle during the chase.
Both cars caught fire, and when Feliz-Rodriguez got out of his car, he was seen being kicked by several officers. His clothing was on fire when he got out of the vehicle. He was also dragged by his legs on the ground away from the vehicle.

A tragedy unfolded in Florida earlier this month as two teens were gunned down in their vehicle after police — reportedly wrongfully accused them of stealing it.
Angelo Crooms, 16, and Sincere Pierce, 18, both of Cocoa, Florida, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds earlier this month after deputy Jafet Santiago-Miranda opened fire on them, dumping multiple rounds into the vehicle.
According to police, deputies Santiago-Miranda and Carson Hendren began following the car they thought was possibly stolen. According to the family, however, it was not stolen.
Natalie A. Jackson, a lawyer for Mr. Pierce’s great-aunt and legal guardian, Cynthia Green, told the NY Times the car that the teenagers were in belonged to Crooms’s girlfriend and was not stolen.
Nevertheless, the deputies approached the vehicle as Crooms pulled into the driveway of Pierce to pick him up. Surveillance footage from the home shows Pierce get into the vehicle as Green walked her nephew out to aid him if he was harassed by the deputies. Moments later they would both be dead.
For some reason, Crooms did not stop the vehicle when deputies approached, despite repeated calls by Santiago-Miranda. This would be a fatal mistake.
“Stop the vehicle!” Deputy Santiago-Miranda yells at the car.
“Please, don’t shoot! Please, don’t shoot! My baby’s in that car!” Green recalled screaming. Deputy Santiago-Miranda then fired, even though the car with the teenagers inside was turning away from him, Pierce’s great-aunt and legal guardian said.
“My baby left home at 10:31, and at 10:33 he was dead,” Green said. “That man just kept shooting.”

A public records background check has revealed quite a disturbing past of Deputy Miranda.
Records from the Osceola Clerk of Courts show that in 2008 he was found guilty of burglary to a dwelling unarmed, as well as aggravated assault with a firearm.
Just this year however, Deputy Miranda was charged with domestic violence with children on April 20th. His wife, who was the petitioner in the case, is also an officer with the Titusville Police Department, and was their 2017 Rookie of the Year and officer of the month in November 2019.It is not clear how Deputy Miranda was able to be hired as a Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy with those charges, but the name and date of birth are a match.
It is not clear if he was disciplined for the domestic violence charges. In January 2019, he was recognized as Deputy of the month.

Tony Bostick, Northwest Florida Minority Business Chamber leader, said that Pittman has “diminished mental capacity,” which explains why he gave the cops the following reason for filming.
When asked why he was filming the students and staff, Pittman said, “they were out to kill me, and I have to record it,” before saying that he thought that the officers were fake police and that he was scared of them.
Clearly, Pittman is mentally ill, and clearly, at least one of the officers involved in his detainment was either untrained in dealing with the mentally ill, or likes to take out his anger on them. Either way, a man, who the community says is harmless, was subsequently handcuffed and attacked by a Panama city cop.
“He’s been known to walk around town and sometimes he goes in and out but he doesn’t harm anyone,” Bostick said.
According to the officer, when he moved to handcuff Pittman — who had not committed a crime — Pittman became uncooperative. This response by someone in Pittman’s mental capacity is to be expected when they are being questioned or arrested and those with the proper training would know how to respond. The officer in the video below did not know how to respond.
Once Pittman was in handcuffs, for some reason, according to police, a “secondary incident” occurred between Pittman and an officer. Exactly why the officer felt it necessary to jump on top of Pittman is unclear. However, his fellow officer obviously knew it was not justified and moved in to intervene.
In an extremely rare move, the good cop intervenes and is seen on video pulling his fellow cop off of Pittman and shoving him to the side. The good cop them pushes the bad cop out of the way and appears to tell him to stop doing what he is doing.
“So far, what we know is that Mr. Pittman was assaulted by a Panama City police officer. A secondary officer stood by and watched it without intervening, and then a third officer actually came in and pulled him off,” Bostick said. “As a result, now they’re trying to say that Mr. Pittman assaulted the other officer that pulled him off.”
Because that good cop decided to do what is right, the officer seen in the video allegedly attacking the innocent mentally ill man now has his own department pushing for batter charges against him. This is how progress is made.

WV Correctional officer facing more than 600 counts of child sex charges appears in court
A West Virginia correctional officer is facing more than 600 counts of various sex charges after West Virginia State Police said he assaulted a young girl over a four year period.James Cain, 48 of Salem, began sexually assaulting the girl when she was nine and continued until she was 13, state troopers said. Troopers collected several pieces of physical evidence at a home where the crimes are alleged to have occurred, according to court documents. While being interviewed by investigators, Cain also admitted to sexually assaulting the victim, according to his criminal complaints. Cain also took photos of the victim while she was naked, troopers allege.
Cain is charged with 104 counts of first degree sexual assault; 208 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust to a child; 104 counts of third degree sexual assault; 208 counts of incest; and charges of use of minors in filming sexually explicit conduct and sending, distributing, exhibiting, possessing, displaying or transporting material by a parent, guardian or custodian depicting a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Cain has been a correctional officer for the last 15 years, according to officials. He was most recently stationed at the Salem Correctional Facility, where he held the rank of lieutenant. Correctional officials stressed to 12 News that Cain’s alleged crimes did not happen at work.

Footage showing a 19-year-old with autism being tasered by police has been released by a Texas police department.
The incident occurred in the north central town of Graham on June 26, but the police body camera footage was not released until Thursday, July 12.
The video shows Michael Moore, 19, being tossed to the ground by police who then use a stun gun.
The police were responding to a call from a neighbor who complained of Moore throwing rocks into their yard, according to ABC affiliate WFAA.
In the video, Moore can be heard answering the police officer's question asking where he lives, responding by saying "right here."
The officers performed field sobriety tests, thinking that he is possibly high on drugs, and Moore appears to become more confused. From there, Moore was pushed to the ground as deputies tried to secure him in handcuffs and then used a taser on him.
Moore is heard screaming for his mother during the video. She was inside their home nearby, but did not hear the screams.
"I was screaming 'Mama, I need you,'" Michael Moore told WFAA
Moore's mother Tracie Moore told WFAA that the sitauation was "outrageous."
"I was in tears. And now I'm angry. I watched the body cam footage. He told them, 'My mama is inside. Let me get my mama,'" Tracie Moore told WFAA.
"It really doesn't take long conversing with him to figure out he has a disability," Tracie Moore said. "Now, he has a busted blood vessel in his eye. He had scratches and abrasions on both sides of his face."

More than 10,000 people signed a petition demanding the New York City officer’s ouster after he broke into a black woman’s home. Officer Reynolds, who is white, kicked in a black woman’s door in a drunken rage, threatening her and her sons with a racist slur and obscenities.
“I’ll break every bone in your neck,” he said in a rant that included two expletives. He then fled to his nearby Airbnb rental just before the police arrived.
Last month, he was sentenced to 15 days in jail and three years’ probation after pleading no contest to four misdemeanors as a result of the episode, court records show.
For weeks after the sentencing, though, he remained an officer, stirring a backlash against the New York Police Department. More than 10,000 people signed an online petition demanding his dismissal and supporting the woman whose home he invaded, Conese Halliburton.

The taxpayers of Honolulu, Hawaii have found out this week that they will be shelling out $320,000 to pay for the domestic violence doled out by one of their “finest.” The reason for the taxpayers footing the bill is due to the fact that the department helped cover for the officer’s alleged abuse for years.
According to the lawsuit, officer Darren Cachola choked his wife in 2017 then pushed her against a wall and terrorized two years later after she filed for divorce. Despite making numerous reports, according to the lawsuit, Cachola’s fellow officers at the Honolulu police department refused to investigate her injuries and went so far as to discourage her from filing charges.
“Here’s the sad thing. This money is coming from taxpayers,” said Ken Lawson of the University of Hawaii Law School. “When the HPD does not enforce its own rules and allows officers … to come in and cover up for other officers in cases of domestic violence we end up paying for it.”
Indeed. Had the officers actually held Cachola accountable, or even investigated his wife’s claims, the taxpayers would not be on the hook right now.
Naturally, however, Cachola’s police union appointed attorney said his client did nothing wrong.
“There’s no admission of liability. He’s taken the position from day one that he did not do anything to his wife,” said attorney William Harrison.
This claim rings hollow, however, considering the fact that Cachola’s wife was not the first person to claim he beat her. In fact, the officer was captured on video at a local restaurant in a violent dispute with his girlfriend before her. Like they did for his wife, fellow officers covered it up and refused to file reports over it.
As Hawaii News Now reports:
Back in 2014, he was caught on surveillance cameras fighting with his then-girlfriend in an empty Waipahu restaurant.
The responding officers did not arrest Cachola and did not file reports. A grand jury also declined to indict. Cachola was later fired but was reinstated.
“When you commit crimes as a police officer, not get prosecuted, get fired and get your job back because of arbitration and not be punished … what’s the deterrent from continuing to engage in misconduct,” said Lawson.
Cachola’s attorney thinks that the lack of indictment is good enough reason to believe that the officer did nothing wrong.
“You can pretty much indict a ham sandwich before the grand jury, right? And they looked at the videos at the other cases and they found there was not enough,” Harrison said. “That case was dismissed but it continues to haunt him.”
But this is simply not true. When it comes to indicting cops, even cops who kill innocent children on video, getting a grand jury to pull the trigger is an often impossible task.
Also, here’s the video. He is seen repeatedly pummeling his girlfriend, beating her across the entire restaurant.
What this case highlights is the extensive privilege granted to police officers even in the most extreme situations. Had this man been accused of committing the same crimes against his wife and not had a badge, rest assured things would have played out far different.

A former Baltimore County corrections officer has been sentenced to more than 33 years in federal prison for two counts of child pornography production, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland said.
U.S. District Judge Stephanie A. Gallagher sentenced Thomas Michael Mannion Jr., 46, Friday to 400 months in federal prison after Mannion pleaded guilty to the charges in March. He must also register as a sex offender upon lifetime supervised release.
Mannion was originally charged with raping a 13-year-old in May 2019, but circuit court prosecutors declined to prosecute him on rape charges less than two weeks after the federal child porn indictment was filed in October 2019, court records show. The Baltimore County Department of Corrections fired Mannion after he was charged.

“Samuel DuBose was fatally shot [in the head] by Ray Tensing, a University of Cincinnati police officer, during a traffic stop for a missing front license plate and a suspended driver's license. Tensing fired after DuBose started his car. Tensing stated that DuBose had begun to drive off and that he was being dragged because his arm was caught in the car. Prosecutors alleged that footage from Tensing's bodycam showed that he was not dragged, and a grand jury indicted him on charges of murder and voluntary manslaughter. He was then fired from the police department. He was released on bond before trial. A November 2016 trial ended in mistrial after the jury became deadlocked. A retrial begun in May 2017 also ended in a hung jury. The charges against Tensing were later dismissed with prejudice.”
He “led his department in arrests and citations and had the largest racial disparity of any other cop. Blacks accounted for 82.5% of Tensing's arrests, according to a report cited by the prosecutor.”

A neighbor recorded the March 21 arrests as officers responded to a parking complaint in a north Omaha neighborhood. The video showed an officer grabbing 28-year-old Octavius Johnson from behind, violently throwing him to the ground and punching him while he was restrained. Several other officers are seen chasing Johnson's brother, Juaquez Johnson, 23, into a nearby home.
Family members say police knocked over a woman in a wheelchair inside the home and confiscated a camera from Juaquez Johnson that he had been using to record his brother's arrest.
That footage has not been made public, but police began an internal investigation a day after the neighbor's video was posted online.

“If the average citizen were to run a red light and plow into two bicyclists, rest assured that this person would, at the very least, be given a wide range of citations and possibly face arrest and jail time. But police officers aren’t average citizens and they instead belong to a club that grants them special privilege, protection from scrutiny, and apparently, the ability to plow down two bicyclists and escape immediate accountability. If the average citizen were to run a red light and plow into two bicyclists, rest assured that this person would, at the very least, be given a wide range of citations and possibly face arrest and jail time. But police officers aren’t average citizens and they instead belong to a club that grants them special privilege, protection from scrutiny, and apparently, the ability to plow down two bicyclists and escape immediate accountability.
Earlier this month, a yet to be identified San Francisco police officer blew through a red light and plowed into two bicyclists. The officer did not have on his lights, nor did he turn on his siren.
Luckily, both of the bicyclists lived, however, one of them was hospitalized.
This week, video and audio footage was released proving that the officer did not have on his sirens and lights and that the officer ran a red light. Yet nothing is being done.
Police haven’t responded to any questions in regard to the incident or what led up to the officer running the light and crashing into the two bicyclists. The only thing that was released, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, was a statement from Adam Lobsinger, a spokesman for the department, who said the cyclists struck the driver’s side of the patrol vehicle.
Claiming that the bicyclists were the ones who “struck the driver’s side of the patrol vehicle,” is a blatant lie. When you watch the video below, you can clearly see the officer run the red light and strike them.

LMPD body camera video contradicts part of the reasoning for officers' use of force in 2019 arrest
While Brown did not get on the ground as asked, the officer’s body camera footage reveals he did show his hands at first request, stopped and did not take a stance to posture for a fight, as described in the citation. In fact, the only blow thrown was by Burba, a closed-fist shot to Brown’s jaw as he approached Brown on the sidewalk, repeatedly shouting “get on the ground.”
https://www.wdrb.com/news/lmpd-body-camera-video-contradicts-part-of-the-reasoning-for-officers-use-of-force-in/article_f0c4d5fa-1fd1-11eb-ad3a-c3f17dc2e7c9.html
“Officer Kaleb Meyer with the New Braunfels Police Department is a tyrant. When he pulled over Clarence Crawford earlier this year, his body camera captured his tyranny in action.
For having an “unclean license plate” Meyer held Crawford at gunpoint, dragged him out of his car, forced him down to the ground, tasered him in his back, handcuffed him, and then kidnapped the man. Crawford had committed no crime and harmed no one.
As the video begins, the crazed cop charges at Crawford in his vehicle, gun drawn, and begins yelling at Crawford. Crawford, knowing he had committed no crime, pulls out his phone and films, politely asking why he is being held at gunpoint….
Despite the unacceptable nature of Meyer’s actions, he was never fired and quietly resigned in September. He was never disciplined by the department.”

A Northern California county has paid nearly $10 million to settle a lawsuit by a Silicon Valley software engineer who was having a mental health crisis two years ago when a deputy shot him, paralyzing him from the waist down.
Placer County paid Samuel Kolb, 50, and his family $9.9 million to settle the lawsuit the family filed after a deputy shot him twice on Jan. 14, 2018, inside a North Lake Tahoe rental cabin where Kolb and his teenage son were vacationing, Kolb said.
“There’s a measure of relief in not having to go through this and not having to put my family through any more legal challenges. But I would trade all the money plus interest to have my old life back, to not have gone through this and put my family through this, to have full use of my body. No amount of money makes up for that,” Kolb said.
Kolb and his son had traveled from their home in San Mateo for a ski trip in Lake Tahoe and were staying at a cabin in Carnelian Bay when Kolb woke up before dawn and began pacing around the cabin.
He woke up his then 16-year-old son and asked him to get medical help, Ronald Kaye, the Kolbs’ attorney, said in the federal lawsuit he filed to dismiss Monday. A federal court Tuesday granted the stipulation for dismissal.
Kolb’s son called 911 and reported his father was acting odd and was “in a dream-like state,” according to court documents.
He told the dispatcher his father had a history of temporal lobe epilepsy and that they had smoked marijuana together before going to bed.
Temporal lobe epilepsy can cause people to feel a sudden sense of fear or anxiety, anger or sadness, though a lawsuit filed by Kaye said Kolb had not had a similar incident in about 15 years.
Kolb’s son “did not believe, nor did he represent, that his father presented any danger to his safety — he simply requested medical help as he observed his father suffering from a mental health episode,” Kaye said in court documents.
When Placer County Deputy Curtis Honeycutt arrived, he found Kolb and his son standing outside the cabin in the cold. Kolb was only wearing a short-sleeved shirt and pajama bottoms and Honeycutt instructed them to go back inside instead of securing Kolb in the back of the patrol car to await mental health intervention, the lawsuit said.
Once inside, Kolb grabbed a 10-inch (25-centimeter) carving fork. In response to Kolb’s raising the fork, Honeycutt began “repeatedly, unreasonably and unjustifiably discharging his office issued firearm,” shattering one of Kolb’s vertebrae, the lawsuit said.
After the incident, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement posted on its Facebook page that Honeycutt believed his life was in danger after Kolb stabbed him with a sharp instrument. A sheriff’s office spokesman later said the deputy was attacked with a large barbecue skewer.
His bulletproof vest protected him from injury but when Kolb tried to stab him a second time, the deputy used his service weapon to end the attack, the department said.
Now an engineering manager at Facebook, Kolb said he volunteers his free time to press for legislative changes to California’s blanket immunity for police officers and to reform policing in the country.
“This is a morally bankrupt and corrupt system that is bent on one thing, which is protecting the power of the entrenched police unions and this power structure,” he said.

St. Paul Police Officer Fired After Shooting Unarmed Naked Man
Joseph Javonte Washington, 31, is an alleged criminal, who needed to be held accountable for his alleged crimes. He is accused of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of kidnapping and one count of second-degree assault. He will go to court and face accountability for these actions. However, he will likely receive a hefty sum of taxpayer money as well after officer Anthony Dean shot him at least twice. When he was shot, Washington was naked and unarmed.
Despite shooting a naked and unarmed man, officer Dean was not arrested or charged with a crime. He was simply fired and could possibly be rehired at a neighboring department.

Chicago police bodycam shows moment Maurice Granton Jr. was shot in back
A Chicago investigative agency released body-camera video Wednesday showing the fatal police shooting of a 24-year-old man who family lawyers say was unarmed at the moment he was shot in the back.
One officer fired from a sidewalk on June 6 just as Maurice Granton Jr. grabs the top of a wrought-fence around a vacant lot to pull himself over. He falls, writhing on the ground, seemingly unable to move his legs. An autopsy later revealed he was shot in the back.

police officers are arrested weekly in this country for sex crimes involving children. This is a massive problem but becomes even worse when victims of child sex abuse seek out help and run right into the arms of someone even worse than they are trying to report. For one girl in New Orleans, Louisiana, this is exactly what happened to her.
Last month, the New Orleans Police department arrested one of their own officers for sexually assaulting a child. Rodney Vicknair, 53, was arrested and charged with sexual battery, indecent behavior with a juvenile and malfeasance, for sexually assaulting a child while investigating a sexual assault that she reported.
Now, we are learning that this officer had a history discipline problems and he likely should have never had his job when the alleged sexual assault took place.
According to a scathing report from WDSU, Vicknair was disciplined four times in just six years, raising the question of whether or not he should have remained employed by the NOPD. Below are the infractions:
* He received a five-day suspension in 2010 for acting unprofessionally and keeping inaccurate records. NOPD’s internal investigation found he used police resources to look up a woman’s personal information and then failed to record an unnecessary stop of the woman in his activity log.
* Vicknair received a one-day suspension and driver training in July 2015 for violating policies related to a vehicle pursuit on March 28, 2014. The internal investigation found he drove 76 mph on Claiborne Avenue at 7 p.m., before driving against traffic for more than three blocks. The investigation did not determine whether Vicknair disregarded a supervisor’s order to end the chase.
* He received a three-day suspension in August 2015 for violating policies related to another vehicle pursuit on Feb. 6, 2014. The internal investigation found he drove against traffic during a car chase that a supervisor determined should not have happened.
* Vicknair received a letter of reprimand in August 2016 for acting unprofessionally when responding to the scene of a fatal overdose. The deceased man’s mother complained that Vicknair laughed at the scene. NOPD’s review of body-camera footage showed he told the overdose victim’s girlfriend, “I didn’t put the needle in his arm” and “I bet if I checked your name you would have warrants.”

‘I Still Love You Bro’: Cops Console Fellow Cop as They’re Forced to Taser Him for Running Over His GF
A woman-abusing Taos County Deputy resigned last month after he attempted to run over his girlfriend — while intoxicated — in his police cruiser. The incident took place in October, but the body camera footage was only recently released.
Deputy Lorenzo Sanchez, 26, quietly resigned after the incident in which he used his patrol cruiser to ram his girlfriend’s vehicle before chasing her into the house with it.
According to police, they responded to a call about a domestic dispute between Sanchez and his girlfriend and two others. When police arrived at the scene, Sanchez was visibly intoxicated, bloodied and his shirt was torn. When questioned about the torn shirt Sanchez told police it was from “rough sex.” It was not.
His girlfriend told police a different story, however, and had the video to back it up. It showed this crazed cop in his police cruiser, ramming her car and chasing her into the house. Even after watching the video, Sanchez’s fellow officers gave him blue privilege and did not immediately arrest him.
It wasn’t until Sanchez attacked one of the cops that he was taken into custody.
Sergeant Jason Rael ordered two of Sanchez’s fellow deputies, Teddy Flores and Taylor Gwinn, to take him into custody but Sanchez wasn’t having it and fought with the deputies. Sanchez even tried to go to his patrol car where his gun was stored and instead of shooting him, Flores simply grabbed the gun first.
A third deputy then arrived on the scene and had enough of the two other deputies giving Sanchez special treatment so he pulled out his taser and took the drunk cop down.
After he was tasered and put in handcuffs, his fellow deputy then somewhat apologized for having to take him in.
“I still love you bro,” a deputy is heard telling the drunken cop who just attacked two cops after trying to kill his girlfriend in his county-issued patrol vehicle.
Imagine if an average Joe would have reacted in a similar manner while surrounded by cops. Do you think things would have played out the same way? Not likely. In reality, had Sanchez not been a cop, he would have been tasered or beaten way earlier in this scenario and possibly even shot. This was the exact same scenario that led to Jacob Blake being shot in the back 7 times by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Sanchez was not shot, however, because his badge protects him from such things. If you doubt this claim, we can look at his past to prove it. The fact is that Sanchez has a history of domestic violence and it hasn’t caused him to lose his job.

Studies proving the racial bias of police
Of the 8.2 million marijuana arrests between 2001 and 2010, 88% were for simply having marijuana. Nationwide, the arrest data revealed one consistent trend: significant racial bias. Despite roughly equal usage rates, Blacks are 3.73 times more likely than whites to be arrested for marijuana. https://www.aclu.org/gallery/marijuana-arrests-numbers
A 2013 Justice Department study found that black and Latino drivers are more likely to be searched once they have been pulled over. About 2 percent of white motorists were searched, vs. 6 percent of black drivers and 7 percent of Latinos. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/09/09/you-really-can-get-pulled-over-for-driving-while-black-federal-statistics-show/?utm_term=.deaf9dd2ef45
In 2015, the Charleston Post and Courier looked at incidents in which police stopped motorists but didn’t issue a citation. These are sometimes called “pretext stops,” because they suggest that the officer was profiling the motorist as a possible drug courier or suspected the motorist of other crimes. The paper found that after adjusting for population, blacks in nearly every part of the state were significantly more likely to be the subject of such stops. https://www.postandcourier.com/archives/pull-over-five-things-to-remember-when-you-see-the/article_c898fb10-8905-5eba-ba01-7b2d15312fb4.html
A 2017 study of 4.5 million traffic stops by the 100 largest police departments in North Carolina found that blacks and Latinos were more likely to be searched than whites (5.4 percent, 4.1 percent and 3.1 percent, respectively), even though searches of white motorists were more likely than the others to turn up contraband (whites: 32 percent, blacks: 29 percent, Latinos: 19 percent). https://arxiv.org/pdf/1607.05376.pdf
A study of “investigatory” traffic stops — that is, stops that did not result in a citation — by police in Kansas City found that blacks were 2.7 times more likely to be pulled over in an investigatory stop, and five times more likely to be searched. http://www.kcur.org/post/study-kc-metro-traffic-stops-shows-race-deeply-embedded-police-practice#stream/0
A study of stop and frisk incidents in Boston between 2007 and 2010 that did not result in a citation or arrest found that 63 percent of such stops were of black people. Blacks made up 24 percent of the city’s population. Incredibly, 97.5 percent of these encounters resulted in no arrest or seizure of contraband. https://www.aclum.org/sites/default/files/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/reports-black-brown-and-targeted.pdf
Another ACLU study, this time on the use of stop-and-frisk in Milwaukee between 2010 and 2017, found that in nearly half of the more than 700,000 such stops, the police failed to demonstrate reasonable suspicion as required by the Constitution. The study found that between pedestrian stops and traffic stops, black people were six times more likely to be stopped and searched than white people, and that less than 1 percent of those searches turned up any contraband. Here again, while black and Latino drivers were more likely to be searched, they were 20 percent less likely to be in possession of any contraband. https://www.aclu.org/blog/criminal-law-reform/reforming-police-practices/new-data-reveals-milwaukee-police-stops-are
The San Diego Police Department (SDPD):
* Stopped Black people at a 219 percent higher rate than white people. In 85 percent of SDPD beats, Black people were stopped at higher rates than white people.
* Was 23 percent more likely to conduct consent searches on Black people than white people, despite being less likely to be found with contraband than white people.
* Was more likely to use force and even more severe forms of force against Black people than white people.
The story was not any better at the county level. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department:
* Stopped Black people at a 130 percent higher rate than white people. In every area of jurisdiction, Black people were stopped at higher rates than white people.
* Was 19 percent more likely to search people they perceived to be LGBTQ or gender non-conforming and 38 percent more likely to arrest them without a warrant compared to people who were not perceived to be LGBTQ or gender non-conforming. This disparity was particularly worse for the Black people in this demographic.
* Used more severe levels of force against Black people and Asian/Pacific Islanders.

US police killings undercounted by half
“Over half of all police killings in 2015 were wrongly classified as not having been the result of interactions with officers, a new Harvard study based on Guardian data has found.
The finding is just the latest to show government databases seriously undercounting the number of people killed by police.
“Right now the data quality is bad and unacceptable,” said lead researcher Justin Feldman. “To effectively address the problem of law enforcement-related deaths, the public needs better data about who is being killed, where, and under what circumstances.””

The report from the Death Penalty Information Center is a history lesson in how lynchings and executions have been used in America and how discrimination bleeds into the entire criminal justice system. It traces a line from lynchings of old — killings outside the law — where Black people were killed in an effort to assert social control during slavery and Jim Crow, and how that eventually translated into state-ordered executions.”

As the National Center for Women and Policing noted in a heavily footnoted information sheet, "Two studies have found that at least 40 percent of police officer families experience domestic violence, in contrast to 10 percent of families in the general population. A third study of older and more experienced officers found a rate of 24 percent, indicating that domestic violence is two to four times more common among police families than American families in general." Cops "typically handle cases of police family violence informally, often without an official report, investigation, or even check of the victim's safety," the summary continues. "This 'informal' method is often in direct contradiction to legislative mandates and departmental policies regarding the appropriate response to domestic violence crimes." Finally, "even officers who are found guilty of domestic violence are unlikely to be fired, arrested, or referred for prosecution."

Cops kill way too many people, black and white. 1 out of 1000 black males will be killed by a cop. Yet the cop population is super tiny. Black women & American Indian & Alaska Native women and men are significantly more likely than white women & men to be killed by cops.

"A 2020 Harvard study of nearly 5,400 police-related fatalities in the U.S. from 2013-2017 found that Black people were on average three times more likely to be killed by police than white people. Of the total fatalities, 2,353 (42.83%) of those killed were white and 1,487 (27.07%) were Black. Annual per capita rates of police-related deaths for Black people ranged from 0.43/100,000 to 2.10/100,000 compared with a range of death rates for white people of 0.08 to 1.10/100,000." https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article...
"A 2019 study from Rutgers University published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences supported those findings: Police violence was found to be a leading cause of death of young men in the U.S., with Black men 2.5 times more likely to be killed by law enforcement than white men." https://www.pnas.org/content/116/34/16793

New Report Says LA County Sheriff’s Department Routinely Obstructs Investigations and Fails to Follow Law
“n a report that breaks little new ground, Inspector General Max Huntsman details an impressively long list of complaints and potential violations ranging from allegedly threatening other county officials to failing to disclose the names of deputies involved in shootings.
“The Sheriff’s Department has gone to great lengths to keep its conduct secret,” the report concludes. “The unlawful acts and potentially unlawful acts enumerated above show a pattern and practice of the repudiation of oversight by the Office of Inspector General, the Civilian Oversight Commission, the Board (of Supervisors) and the public.””

The Village Where Every Cop Has Been Convicted of Domestic Violence
Dozens of convicted criminals have been hired as cops in Alaska communities. Often, they are the only applicants. In Stebbins, every cop has a criminal record, including the chief.
“Mike was a registered sex offender and had served six years behind bars in Alaska jails and prisons. He’d been convicted of assault, domestic violence, vehicle theft, groping a woman, hindering prosecution, reckless driving, drunken driving and choking a woman unconscious in an attempted sexual assault. Among other crimes.
“My record, I thought I had no chance of being a cop,” Mike, 43, said on a recent weekday evening, standing at his doorway in this Bering Strait village of 646 people.
He was wrong.”

Police Solve Just 2% of All Major Crimes

No one is regulating police training on a national level. There are no federal minimum requirements for the amount of time cadets spend training to become police officers or for what they must study, and no national system for licensing officers. Though Rhode Island requires 22 weeks of basic law-enforcement training, Georgia requires a minimum of 11— while a barber needs 1,500 hours of training, or more than 37 workweeks, to even qualify to take the licensing exam in the same state. Hawaii has no training standards or minimum qualifications for police officers. Many states allow 18-year-olds to become police officers. Most do not require implicit-bias or de-escalation training.
A cadet who attended a North Carolina technical college said one of his instructors celebrated the 2016 election of Donald Trump by saying it would enable officers to “police people in the projects the way they should be policed.” Other instructors screamed obscenities at students, he said, often focusing hazing on women and gay and lesbian cadets. A lawsuit filed in Maryland last year alleged that two cadets suffered brain injuries while in a boxing class taught by an instructor at a community-college academy who had not received any updated training or certification since leaving the Maryland State Police in 1989.
Nor does the marketplace guarantee the best recruits. Police departments usually conduct background checks and psychological screenings before they hire and train someone, but academies have a financial incentive to enroll students and do not vet them as extensively. One Wisconsin cadet told me his fellow students spoke about wanting to get into their first gun fight and made racist comments. “We had some really bad eggs who ended up becoming cops,” he said. Students who pay their own way can behave badly at school, and then finish their training and wait months or years before being hired as officers, while their skills become rusty.
Densley interviewed police chiefs in Minnesota as part of a research project to learn if Minnesota’s system, which outsources training to community and technical colleges, was producing candidates whom the chiefs wanted to hire. Departments were getting hundreds of applicants who had fulfilled the state’s training requirements, Densley found, but police chiefs felt comfortable hiring only a handful of them, sometimes because of concerns about dishonesty, incompetence or even criminal violations. “The process was doing a decent job of providing practical skills, but things like empathy and common sense were completely lacking,” he says.
