Benson Obama

I didn't really know Benson Obama, but I'm sure I was at events he was at during Smash 4. I've been reading up on him and watching vids. Shoutouts to Sai for taking the time to teach me about him. Also Shoutouts to the various players on twitter that have been telling his story.

Benson Obama was not only a good player, was a great role model and an excellent teacher. When people talk about him, the word that comes to mind is "kindness". Niceness implies fake politeness or bare minimum in my book, but Benson displayed true kindness. He would see people struggling times and rise up to giving his all to helping that person. He'd fight furiously for other people's happiness, no matter the circumstance. I'm not sure how long he suffered behind the scenes, but he made damn sure no one fell into their own darkness for even a fraction of a second.

Even though I'm mostly Columbus Focus, I still get teary eyed when players simply come and go through regular means like moving or quitting. I can't even imagine a death in the scene.

On behalf of Cbus Smash Ultimate, Melee, and Cbus FGC (even if Benson didn't do FGC things) to Indy Smash, we're terrible sorry for your loss. Our hearts bleed for you all. Please let any of us know how we can help grieve for a marvelous human being.

Rest in peace sir.
