A letter to the SC community. Avilo is trying to ruin my career. RTs appreciated
I’ll try to keep this post as short as possible as I go into detail about my experience with Avilo over the past 10 years. If you’re the type of person to skim through a twitlonger, do me a favor. At the end of this post there will be a series of screenshots, links to Tweets, and a link to the Twitter and YouTube forms where you can report abusive or harassing behavior. I am in no way asking anyone to report anyone on my behalf. I am simply asking you to take 5-10 minutes out of your day, review the evidence I’ve provided, so you can make an informed decision on if you would like to exercise your right to use the report forms provided.
The early days
I’ve been playing Starcraft 2 for over 10 years now. Over those years I’ve had several interactions with a member of the community named Avilo. Early in the Heart of The Swarm days, I began to receive a number of users in my Twitch channel calling me a map hacker. Since I was an aspiring professional SC2 player at the time, these false allegations were difficult to deal with. Since I had a very small stream back then, it was very easy for the hateful comments to drown out the positive ones. It didn’t take me long to figure out it was coming from Avilo and his viewers. After years of receiving these hateful comments, one of my viewers made a video showcasing the falsity of his claims. This unbelievable yet factual video, is linked below.

After this video's release in 2016, I haven’t had a single conversation with Avilo. In response to the video, he began leaving every ladder game against me for roughly the next year. I added his name as a ‘banned phrase’ from my Twitch chat, and I have avoided confrontation with him at all costs.
Avilo has borne a deep hatred for me ever since the “Avilo vs Jason” video came out. He tends to project a lot of his insecurities onto me so I’ve always been able to draw a pretty clean picture as to why he hates me. A lot of it does come from the video since it went viral in the Starcraft community and sent a lot of criticism his way about his baseless accusations towards other players. He has shown his maliciousness through: making fun of my voice, Starcraft skill, and my mental health. I am able to just laugh at most of these accusation or ignore them as my voice is the number one thing people compliment about me, my MMR has always been 500+ higher with a 90%+ win rate against him (excluding the games we would auto leave vs each other), and has his own mental health battles. Despite me completely ignoring him for years I have never stopped receiving harassment from Avilo.
A couple years ago I found a Twitch streamer and now long time friend Atira. I enjoyed her sense of humor and as a high-level player, it's enjoyable for me to watch Starcraft that isn’t just a professional player spamming and clicking everywhere with 400 APM. Naturally, since I enjoyed the content, I began hosting Atira’s stream a couple times a week. I stream twice a day on average, so of the 11-13 streams I do a week, I host Atira 2-3 times. For those who are not familiar with the history between Atira and Avilo I will link Atira’s Twitlonger.

For those who don’t want to read another Twitlonger, which is guaranteed to question your faith in humanity, the highlights you need to know are the following. Avilo had manipulated Atira into being together for a short amount of time in 2018. Atira eventually was able to break free of the mental prism of abuse Avilo had surrounded her in, and she no longer wants anything to do with Avilo. Avilo constantly harasses Atira. He tells everyone that she’s his girlfriend even though Atira has consistently said this is false. She has no interest in communicating with him at all and wants him to leave her alone. He is currently spreading a lie that Atira has bipolar disorder, which Atira has also publicly confirmed to be false.
As a result of Avilo’s insistence in this belief, he has an extreme reaction every time anyone interacts with Atira that isn’t him. This is where his recent forms of harassment towards me begins, he interprets me hosting and interacting with Atira’s community as a threat. He sends more harassment than I’ve ever thought possible for one person to achieve, almost daily. Throughout this post I will be showcasing the various forms of harassment I have received from Avilo over the last year through different avenues (e.g., discord, email etc.) and the impact this has had on my career. Following this you will find resources that any user can utilize if they feel content is inappropriate, or of a threatening nature, or violates the platforms of service.
Discord Harassment
Avilo began making alt accounts to join my Discord server and spam messages to me, my community, and Atira. We quickly devised a system where new users were locked in quarantine and unable to interact with the server. As a result of the quarantine, Avilo’s behavior devolved to begin setting the name of Discord alt accounts to what he wanted to say. I have linked below an example of the last few days he spent making alt accounts. What Avilo is trying to achieve is simple, he has stated multiple times that his goal is to shut down my server. Between all his different forms of harassment, he is trying to pressure me into not interacting with Atira. He has explicitly stated (as shown below) that his goal is to cause enough stress and worry that I would see Atira as being too much trouble to be around.

Please note that this is just the spam from MY server. He also makes even more accounts to spam Atira’s server. Some days he easily spends 13+ hours making accounts. I’ve had to close down one of the most important features on my server because of his behavior.
Why does this bother you? Why not just keep the accounts locked away and forget about it?
Discord has recently changed their requirements for partnership, and I’ve been trying hard to raise the number of new users in my Discord community. As of this week I unfortunately lost my Discord partnership even though I was able to hit the activity required to maintain my partnership. I suspect it’s because of the number of accounts I’ve had to ban / delete, and I of course will get in contact with Discord soon to try and shed some light on the situation. Luckily, Discord allowed me to keep all the important partner perks that I had while in the partner program, so it’s not an urgent matter for me. On top of that, I refuse to shut down my server since that is precisely Avilo’s goal.

I’ve set up an auto filter that blocks his emails but some of the wording in these emails sent to me had threatening undertones, so I wanted to share these as well.

Atira has also provided me a section of the emails she received from Avilo. This section of emails is from a night where I played a single 2v2 with Atira on ladder. Please note there are an uncountable number of emails to Atira and I, from Avilo. How this has impacted me and my career
For those unaware I have been diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder as well as struggling with a number of panic attacks this past year. It has caused enough extra stress to prevent me from streaming a number of times. I know some people will complain that I’m simply drawing attention to a situation that doesn’t deserve attention anymore, but I can’t disagree more. I wake up in the morning, stream Starcraft 2 all day, and spend time in the evening enjoying playing other video games with my friends. As a result of this I have received countless messages and a seemingly endless amount of mental torture. This is a person who is a member (whether we like it or not) of the Starcraft 2 community. He still appears on the streams we watch, attacks the people we support, and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon. This is a quote from Atira’s twitlonger describing what happened when the police were contacted.
“I had previously contacted the police about Avilo and they said they were aware that he harassed another girl a few years ago but nothing really came of it. The cops had told Avilo to leave me alone back in the winter time but nothing really came of that either.”
My number one wish is that Avilo would leave me and my friends alone, but since the police can’t do anything, I have chosen to share my experiences in order to raise awareness.
Resource for Twitters harassment report form
Once again I would like to mention this so it’s clear as day for anyone reading. Please do not report any user for any reason unless YOU believe that person is breaking the rules as described by the platform you are reporting on.

This clearly states that a user’s off-platform behavior such as a YouTube user's harassing Tweets, can be held against them.

Some links have been deleted by Twitter and Avilo also continuously deletes the evidence himself. I’ve marked the ones I found to be deleted and please note that even if a Tweet has been deleted, I have provided links to screenshots of the Tweets. Twitter also stores everything even if it’s deleted so the links are still valid no matter what.

A side note and a message to my community
A couple years ago I was made aware of a Discord server that was dedicated to trolling Avilo. Like most people, I thought it was kind of funny at first. But over the course of a couple months, I was made aware of the behavior going on in this server. I received examples of Doxing, racism, homophobia, insults to the majority of the Starcraft community, and much more. Members of this server have gone as far to viewbot Avilo and other streamers involved with this drama.
I had taken screenshots earlier in the year while I was quickly gathering evidence to report the server to Discord. I have decided not to share any as it would only give a voice to a bunch of sad racist assholes. I’ll only say that when I ran a search for the “N” word, Discord returned over 1000+ results.
Thanks to the help of many other community members, we managed to ban this server a couple different times but unfortunately, they will remake it repeatedly forever, so not much else can be done there.
I have also been made aware that several members of my own community have been active participants in this server. I understand that there are people that just want to watch the Drama unfold, and I understand not everyone engages in hate speech. I am however, extremely disappointed in the members of my own community that have been active negative participants of this server. Specifically the ones that enjoy posting screenshots of my interactions with Atira to lead a false narrative, spending countless hours obsessing over and giving Avilo the majority of the attention he has received, or my personal favorite, @ing me on twitter in tweets Avilo was trying to harass me in, bypassing Twitters block function and appearing in my notifications. Many of your actions have caused me incredible stress and resulted in 1000’s of instances of harassment from Avilo to me. You’re not helping anyone, you aren’t helping me, and you’re not helping anyone else that has or will have the misfortune of being dragged into this mess in the future. It’s time to grow up.
