Stagnant Growth

I'm writing to talk about something very deep to me. Please take the time to read the whole twitlonger. There will be no TLDR or summary at the bottom. If you're truly my friend or care about me please give this a read.

So it all started August 23rd-25th weekend, at least in the smash community that weekend was very important for the smash community since it was a major. Shine 2019 was that major. I had missed doubles with Stroder and it heavily devastated my mental. I had overslept due to poor sleeping situations and I picked up a [NONCONTAGIOUS] ear infection that weekend, not the same day but the day after, I think. Anyways, I show up to the venue, I see all my friends and I have a blast, feeling a lot better. I get to see all my good friends close from home and from afar. My bracket wasn't nothing too crazy, I almost had dropped a game to Insomniac game 1 and reverse 3 stocked Suarez the round after game 2, popping off, to go up 2-0 against him in a set in a best of 5 set. Nothing crazy just something I'd do anyday of the week. Ya know me, always doin my thang. So after I 3-0 Suarez, I chill for a bit however I am anticipated for my next set. TSM Tweek, at the time, the #2 player in the world for Smash Ultimate. I prep for this by playing against AxiomXL (New England Wario, pretty good) and in order to prep to beat Tweek's Pokemon Trainer, I watched a few minutes of him vs Marss' Falcon at Smash Con. (Proof below). I didn't play Pandarian. I didn't play Puppeh. I didn't play Wishes. I didn't play Big Leff. That was the only way I prepped for Tweek.

As you can tell, I don't think I was the most ready to go up against the titan Tweek. However, most of you might recall that the main stream setup for Shine was laggy for some reason. Because of this, I immediately requested from a friend who was running the side stream to put me on the side stream against Tweek instead of the main stream. I was allowed to play on the side stream and didn't have to play in lag. The inevitable occured and I beat Tweek swiftly. No pop off necessary(This is funny because I had popped off after taking a game off Suarez over beating #2 in the world.) I hadn't realized I beaten Tweek until I got off stage and realized everyone was popping off for me. My ear infection started to kick in a lot harder throughout the middle of the set or the end of the set, close friends and some staff can confirm that I was having really bad ear issues soon after the set against Tweek. My run ended at 17th of Shine to two members of #TeamCAD, Blacktwins and Jw. (Fun fact: Jw did say "Poggers." after he beat me).

Fast forward to Dreamhack Atlanta November 15th-17th 2019. I had to fight my demon, MVD. MVD was 2-0(pretty sure) on me before this set and I hadn't really beaten any top Snake players besides VinnyG and ScAtt. I 2-0'd him. Popped off after game 1 and got a hot clip game 2, nothing unusual. Ya know me just doin my thang. Then afterwards I had to fight TSM Tweek... again. People talk to me about it beforehand and I jokingly talk about how people assume it's just another day in the office to be able to beat someone as monstrous as Tweek when I denied it everytime. Then once I play Tweek, well let's just say it was just another day in the office. It's my most viewed set and it's probably less likely because I beat him but more likely because he took a game off me with his King K. Rool immediately after the buffs. Some friends can confirm that my game plan was go up 2-0 on the Joker and lose game 3 then switch to Chrom game 4, however once I saw yoshi's story open I knew just to go Roy and finish what I've started. Again, no pop off necessary. I get up finish and wait to get demolished by my demon, Dark Wizzy. Confirmed 9th place I look over my upcoming bracket which is a combination of Mr. E vs Sonido into Salem. Me, also having never beaten Salem, being down 4-0 to him, was scared to say the least, of missing out on my first top 8 at a major. That's when Sonido turned beast mode and mauled both Mr. E and Salem and was my opponent for the top 8 qualifier. Let me tell you was I scared, but excited as well. Sonido is someone who plays the Roy matchup at a top level more than basically everyone besides a select few, having Kola in his region. This was a challenge to prove myself. The set started with Sonido and it ended within minutes. It was the fastest top level Sonic set best of 5 you've ever seen in your life. Unfortunately the set was on the side stream so not many could see what I can only describe as "destruction" that I laid upon Sonido. This is only a relic of game 3, clipped from one of my best friends, Yipes.

You've probably never seen a Roy spike a sonic mid spin dash int op level play before so there you go. So I get top 8, I pop off that I got into top 8. and I eat cookout for dinner. Skipping the part where I lose to my fellow rushdown compadre, Light. I get my first top 8, landing at 7th place. Now you're probably wondering, "So what's the point of this twitlonger?" Well, I'd like to announce that after being stranded looking for acceptance to grow as a player, I've been accepted by humble leaders of a Smash crew called "IKON". They saw the potential in me and decided to put the umbrella over my head, covering me from the rain and guiding me to englightendment. If you've read this far, you probably feel that you've been trolled by the #trollmentality. But it is what it is ya know? Just doin my thang ya know me.

I hope everyone who read this is having a great day. I really appreciate everyone who read up to this point and if you skipped to find a TLDR or a summary well, I'd probably do the same don't worry. Have a good night, I'm gonna drink some water.
