Official Statement on Valorant Tournament
It has come to my attention as the host of the upcoming Valorant tournament that one of the team captains is involved in a very difficult and public incident on twitter. My official decision is that this team captain will still be playing in the tournament. Here are some reasons why:
1. This "drama" has all just been on twitter as a she-said he-said commentary. I would like to allow the people involved some privacy to figure this out in private, whether it is in personal DMs or in court. Publicly shaming without context or proof will not resolve any situation.
2. This specific team captain has devoted hours of practice and dedication along with many of the other team captains involved. It doesn't matter WHO it was, I treat all of them equally. It isn't fair for everyone else to cancel an event that people have been working so hard on when there is no official statement in regards of who was truly the victim or not.
[With that being said, in a circumstance where judges of a court have made official declarations, we would have postponed the event no matter who the team captain was.]
3. This event is not to highlight a player's personal life. I would like to emphasize the purpose and creation of this event is to broadcast VALORANT: a game that a lot of people enjoy and relate to. I hope that in today's tournament, we are all able to maturely come together to witness amazing gameplay and celebrate our love for video games: one thing we share in common.
Last but not least, let us remember to love our neighbors. Treat others with kindness, the way you would want to be treated. Please do not hesitate to reach out: my email is osnapitskat123@gmail.com and I am open to any discussion in private. In the meantime, I cannot express how HYPED I am for this tournament and excited to watch these games! Thank you to everyone that worked so hard on this event, I appreciate you and am looking forward to an amazing time together!! June 27-28 2pm PST on twitch.tv/osnapitskat.
