Dear Jen,

Further to our recent email response to you, which we understand you have made public, and in reply to your additional queries sent via twitter, we here provide a final, public clarification.

We chose not to mention any specific individuals, personal characteristics or academic interests in our email to you.

For various reasons, our publisher needed us to establish, asap, an interim website, at what was an early stage in the life of the journal.

The process of forming the Exec and Editorial Board for IJDSJ was not complete when the website was launched. Since 28 May 2020 we have made a number of further appointments, which have been announced on our twitter page.

As stated on our website, we will also be working with the journal's Editorial Board to identify a number of early career researchers to invite onto the Board and we will always strive to be inclusive and diverse as a community.

We recognise the need for more work at the intersection of disability, gender and sexuality. The IJDSJ will welcome such work. We do not, however, seek to monopolize publishing in that space and would, for example, be very supportive of any move to establish an additional journal which has that specific focus.

Thank you again for your interest and comments.

Best regards

Anna Lawson and Angharad Beckett.
Chairs of the Executive Committee, IJDSJ.
