Changes and future at @OXG_Esports

Hey guys,

It's with a heavy heart that we've decided to part ways with fruity.

It's been a fantastic journey with him for the past two years. He joined us at the most difficult moment Chausette and I ever had, in a very tense situation and as a rookie, but managed to help us get through it brilliantly and was a key part in bringing our team back as one of the best in Europe consistently.

Sure, we've had some downs, especially recently. But there's a reason why many people feel like finishing 3rd in League Play with a 6-3 record and finishing 5th in Europe is a "disappointing result". It's only disappointing when you've shown times and times again you can do better, and I believe that's what we did.

I strongly believe we could still do great things with fruity, he's a very talented player, we've proved by the past we can bounce back from tough times, and we've always believed that there's a lot of ways to fix issues before thinking about making a roster change.

However, after two years, it has become harder to fix issues, and recently it has felt we've reached the end of a cycle. After the conclusion of Season 9, Chausette and I discussed of our plans moving forward : with our recent results, with the covid-19 context preventing Major LAN events to be held, with the off-season looking like it was going to be pretty long, and with us having to find a new org back then... We thought everything pointed towards a fresh start, and that all this time before next season could be used wisely, to correctly prepare for a roster change, as long as we could find a suitable replacement.

From the bottom of my heart, I'd like to thank fruity. He's proved to be an amazing player, but more importantly, an amazing teammate and friend. I wouldn't have a single bad thing to say about him during all this time, that's how nice he's been to us. I'll forever remember the great times we shared at our many LANs, and cherish the many successes we had together. I wish him the best, and truly hope he'll find even more success with a new team.

What's next for us?

Well, as I said, such a move only makes sense if we could find a suitable replacement. I believe we did exactly that, as I'd like to welcome last season's European MVP to our team : AztraL.

I think everyone already knows how good and promising as a player AztraL is, and I can't wait to see what we can do with him. He's a truly gifted player, and an already close friend to both Chausette and I, and I believe he'll be able to shine even more in such an environment.

This is also going to allow us to play with french comms. We've had multiple opportunities by the past to bring other top tier french-speaking players to our roster, but always believed it wasn't a necessity to be successful. However, it obviously adds a lot of comfort, and with AztraL wanting to join us after his incredible season, it just made even more sense to bring him on board.

I want to thank everyone at Oxygen Esports for working hard for over a month in order to help making this happen, it wasn't easy.

It's definitely going to take us some time to get used to each other, but our goal remains to lift the RLCS trophy, and I promise you we'll do everything we can to be ready on time for the new season!
