CSD SPLIT WITH AEQ (HELLA LONG BTW)

Btw: Just a little clarification. AeQ doesn't own our LCD spot, but one of our managers (MostWanted) does. He started a team consisting of hekatos, coing, myself and more in the PSD, but decided to buy a DSD spot instead. Back then we played under Flayn. We won the CSD and decided to part ways. Mostwanted made a new roster and switched out Flayn for AeQ, and played a split in the CSD while I was with FKE.

Another clarification: I might write "we" at some points of this but 100% of these viewpoints are my own, and none of my teammembers. And at the same time I would like you to not take any of my teammembers viewpoints and force them on me. We are allowed to have different opinions even though we play together :D

What a split this has been. It has been absolutely crazy to have been a part of so many ups and downs with AeQ Nordic, and fighting our way through in the end, when it really mattered. I decided to do this twitlonger, as I have promised it before, but also because I haven't gotten a valorant key yet, and I am bored to death in quarantine. Basically it will recap my split and will also shed some light on my perspectives of the things that has went down lately. Starting with the beginning:

I had just finished a not so exciting split at FKE as a sub for their CSD roster. I had originally joined tryouts hoping to play on their newly obtained LCD spot, but I wasn't chosen and therefore could have been offered only to play for their CSD spot instead. At the time I was heavily focused on getting into the LCD and all my decisions were based on reaching that goal. Seeing the roster Vildgaard was assembling for the CSD, I decided I would rather stay as a sub for both teams which I ended up regretting. It was boring as hell, and having to watch from the sideline was something I would never want to experience again. I got some play time in the end and helped the team secure playoffs where we were knocked out in first round of playoffs.

The reason why I bring my time at FKE up is because this was where I first met Fartkontrol. He was a player I had briefly played against (smashed xd) in the DSD and therefore allready knew a small bit about. I knew he was a skilled player and found him to be one of the better danish toplaners, which as many people know are quite rare. What changed my perspective about him completely was when I was told mid-split that he was in fact only 13 year old. This changed everything. A kid who played better than some of the 19 year old, experienced, players while having a single DSD split under his belt was very impressive. And when I say played better I litterally mean he solo killed the enemy toplaner almost every game.

After the CSD playoffs with FKE I was highly motivated to tryout for LCD teams and such. I was again only offered a few sub spots for different LCD teams, and therefore decided to go back to the beginning and join MostWanted's CSD spot. They had kept Neerup aka. the boomer support from their previous split and due to allready knowing me from previous times, took me in without tryouting me. This meant we had 3 players to find and I allready had a few stand out names to tryout.

The first one I contacted though was the most important one to get. Fartkontrol. I was convinced he was the best danish toplaner outside of the LCD and therefore was first priority. He decided he was interested to join, when I showed him the full roster of our team. I then went on to search for midlaners and adc's and ended up going with scuffed and Hekatos who were both ready to tryhard after a not so "tryhard" CSD split. I was really happy with this roster as it reminded me alot of the initial DSD roster. We had: Crazy toplaner who solo killed alot, insane coinflipper jungler, a midlaner with a massive champpool who knew how to keep his own jungler in check, a rocksolid consistent adc who never got caught in lane, and a experienced shotcaller and engager to guide the rest of the team. As Fartkontrol said when I showed him the roster and accepted to join: "Du er smurf, scúffed er smurf og botlanen er smurf, nemt valg"

I forgot to tell that we had also agreed on a coach at this time: Swagnaros. I don't quite remember when or how we got in contact with him, but I am pretty sure Hekatos and Scuffed had known him from prev. team and we decided he was a good fit to the current team dynamic.

The Autumn split of CSD was about to start and the other rosters had been announced which meant it was time to do the tierlists. Personally I knew Flayn would be one of the stronger opponents as I had kept an eye on the roster who had joined the org which I prev. played under. Next up was the two FKE teams. I felt both rosters had alot of individual skill and they definitely had some names which you'd recognize if you had been watching previous splits. But one thing they lacked compared to the Flayn roster was synergy. They had not kept many players and therefore had 2 x 5 new personialities which had to fit together. As I didn't know much about the UK botlane from Vikings (other than the fact that Kzed liked to talk shit in solo q and on twitter, skud ud til spaden) I thought Pirates to be the bigger competitor. The rest were if not non existant to me, then close to. This is not supposed to be toxic, I just knew that the AeQ roster would be stronger than them, as I was very confindent in myself and my team.

The split started. We had an easy beginning vs Merge, which cleared up any initial nerves about the start of a new split with a new team. I think this was very important, that we didn't have to debut against one of the higher rated teams. We won every series in the split except one series where we sadly had to sub in another adc. We didn't have much time to practice with our subs and having a foreign player in a team used to shotcall in danish was too big of a change for us and we lost 0-2 vs Flayn. Out of the more memorable series were the Vikings series where Kzed almost 1v9'ed on turbo broken aphelios, but we managed to turn it around in game 3 and capitalized on their biggest weakness. Beating Vikings was a big win for us as it proved all of our (twitter) assertions about being the better team.

Fartkontrol solo killed alot of toplaners. Swagnaros outdrafted alot of enemy coaches and I missed as many smites as I sneaked early drakes. In the end we made playoffs as first seed. Alot had happened at this point with the other teams. First of all were I surprised that none of the FKE teams made playoffs. I expected problems with their team synergy, sure. But not making playoffs seemed insane for such talented rosters ngl. We were also very jealous at FKE for having the insane facillities required to have a danish bootcamp. That looked like a lot of fun and should definitely help a team to synergize in the future. But things happened to the FKE rosters apparently. w.e

We were going up against Merge and had lowkey allready started to consider which of the other two teams in playoffs we were going to meet in the final. We expected Flayn to pull through but were curious to see if some of the stand out players from Hillerød could upset Flayn and beat them in a BO5. This was a big mistake. Going in to a semifinal with as much confidence as we did vs Merge ended up almost costing us the series. We won the game 1. I did not play up to my usual level at all though. It was a combination of pressure on me, and Sebal showing a level of play I had not expected from him. He had certainly done his job preparing for the match, as he knew where to ward, where I would path and I felt like he knew exactly where I was going at all times. This costed us the next two games, as Sebal started applying even more pressure than game 1 and spoonfed coing G kills so that he could 1 v 9 on his cassiopeia pick.

After game 3 I have never felt worse about playing league of legends before. I just muted discord and stared at the defeat screen for a while to realise what was about to happen. We were one game away from being beaten in the semifinals therefore taking any chance we'd have for reaching LCD and this by a team we rated as 3rd lowest out of every team in the league.

I was shaking, and having stomach aches. I knew we had to pull out a miracle to change the momentum of the series. We had around 190 viewers, which I was very proud of as the CSD playoffs wasn't even supposed to be streamed initially, but people showed interest in our game. This also meant that every one who knew me from twitter would be watching me playing some of the worst league I have ever played in comp. league. One thing was for sure. I would have quit comp. league and twitter if we had lost game 4.

In the teamcall leading up to the fourth game we took a quick discussion about what we did wrong. We decided to change our initial gameplan and went for a more scale heavy composition, as Swag felt this suited our playstyle vs Merge more (And thank fcking god for him making that call!) The draftphase was complete chaos from Merge imo, and I think they were feeling quite hyped about being 1 game away from finals aswell. They locked Rammus. I think this was singlehandly the biggest mistake from them. I just didn't see how Rammus could ever be the best pick in his current state. I knew we still had a chance as I was very confident in my comfort pick, Lee Sin vs a Rammus. I was able to sneak drakes, heralds and everything was going as planned. Scuffed had pulled out his Anivia, which we hadn't scrimmed with before, but he convinced us it was strong enough.

We ended up taking some bad fights early game, and ended up in the same position as game 2 & 3 being 6k g down. This time, though, we came prepared and had drafted for more scaling, aka. we had picked Anivia. Merge took a bad fight in a narrow spot where Scuffed got a perfect Anivia ult off combined with a good Q onto Pattemand from Merge completely oneshotting him and winning us the fight, and after that the game.

Our mood started to improve and we went into 5 with the same mindset as game 1, but still drafted for heavier scaling than before. This time it paid off. I had redemption on my ekko (which I had inted on earlier) and we showed up finally in game 5, not leaving them much room to try and fight back. Holy shit I screamed and yelled after we won the deciding teamfight in game 5. I screamed my lungs out man. And I was honestly surprised that my team didn't react to my yells. It got stranger and stranger and I thought they were joking with me until I realised I had wrapped my microphone cord around my chair and unplugged it by mistake. This meant I was muted in the last 12 minutes of game 5. Holy shit that could have costed us, but luckily we had the synergy to pull through.

In the final we played Flayn. We knew they played around their botside as it was probably the strongest 2 v 2 lane in the league when on the right picks. The thing is when you ban Aphelios and Senna you remove those picks. So that we did. We played abit slow early game wise but were better at fighting and playing around the map, so we were never really as scared vs Flayn as we were in the semifinal. In the 3rd game the same thing happened. Flayn had a minor gold lead and we had better scaling imo. Sadly the servers started lagging and both teams felt it. Flayn wanted to play it through (as they thought their gold lead was enough to win them the game - is the only excuse I can think of to why they would wanna play when some of their players had 90+ ms too). Admins decided that game should be postponed and that a coin should be flipped to decide if we keep drafts or not. Flayn wanted new drafts and the coin agreed with them. It didn't really matter as we ended up with 10 x times stronger draft than initially and hard stomped them in the postponed game 3. It felt really bad not to be able to win 3-0 vs Flayn on stream as we had 200+ viewers for the CSD final and would have been able to do a really funny winners interview afterwards. But we can't have it all, and we will gladly settle for the LCD Spot.

Moving forward we have decided to part ways with AeQ. This isn't because we had a fallout with them or anything, but we got a better offer for the team, our coach and for our main manager Maaus. I would like to thank AeQ and the owner CaptOfLove for our time there and for the outstanding coverage of our games! It was a pleasure having CaptOfLove commentate our best and also our worst performances xD. Good luck to you in the coming primeleague split aswell.

Instead we will be joining Infernal Void, and you can expect to see more from them on Twitter soon. We are having alot of exciting things going our way atm, and discussions about starting a danish academy team is also being held. Expect to hear more about this aswell.

Our roster will stay for the LCD split except for our midlaner who can't participate. Sadly, he has to travel to be together with his family who are currently living outside of DK, he won't be able to play in the coming split. This sucks big time as he was a crucial part of the team and a hilarious duo partner.

In the end I would like to thank everyone who checks in on twitter and supported us throughout the split. To the team I would like to thank:

Fartkontrol
Scuffed
Hekatos
Neerup
Swagnaros

Our subs:

Vuffer, Tazzechi, Broillian (Sebal1p som måske / måske ikke har subbet en enkelt scrim eller to fordi jeg glemte at der var scrim)

Our phenomenal managers:

Maaus and Mostwanted

My biggest twitter supporter:
Bent246 (du skal seriøst lade være mig at like alt jeg lægger op inden for 2 sekunder. Er en smule bange for du sidder på den anden side af min rude og ser når jeg trykker post) <3

This was pretty long as I am pissbored in quarantine and I cba with solo q atm. I enjoy writing these and love seeing the interactions it gets afterwards on twitter.

Thanks for reading
Hankat

PS: Regarding twitter shenanigans this split

I am not sure anyone has even realised this but I have been posting now and then on my twitter @HankatLoL. Whenever I make these posts I never intend to hurt anyone personally, and I won't apologize if anyone took it personally. I would like to apoligize though if my posts have sparked other hatefull discussions between certain twitter accounts and just like to point out again, that it never was my intention, and I don't share the same viewpoints just because someone wrote it under my posts.

In terms of tierlist, I really CBA defending in depths the choices I took. I rated my team highly because I knew atleast 1 or 2 of the players from the other top 5 teams in the league, and knew every single one of my teammembers were better than those. I received alot of backlash for this, and got accused of not looking from an objective POV. My request to those people are: Tierlists before a split are incredibly risky as it is impossible to know every players initial level of play before they have showcased it. Please feel free to point out my tierlists were dogshit if they were in hindsight as deillusional as initally proclaimed by some twitter users. I vouch for my own opinions and I honestly believe I proved many of my initial placements to be correct this split. I therefore also hoped to gain some sort of respect out of this. AeQ went from being looked upon as purely a team based around bad tierlists and twitter banter, to winning against every single team in the league. And I honestly don't think we got enough credit for that, compared to how easily another tierlist maker such as Kenni got away with his incredibly wrong tierlist. (which ended up being sooooooooooo fucking disrespectful to our performance as a team, and again showing HOW wrong you can be in the beginning of a split)

With that being said you can expect me to keep the posting frequency at the same level in the coming split. And I know it will make some of the big (EGOs) personalities we have in the danish scene angry or even mad. I can allready see the good content to come from this. Can't wait.

TL:DR.

We won CSD. Fartkontrol is the best toplaner/talent outside the LCD (and will now show how he matches vs LCD tops). We switched org. Hankat made some people mad on twitter, and will continue to do so in the future. Infernal Void are looking for a Midlaner d1+ danish resident!
