Why I Quit League

Hello everyone, I want to talk a bit about why I decided to quit LoL. I could write a novel about all of the reasons and my experiences but I want to keep it short(ish).

As some of you might have noticed I barely played League at all in the last two months. It started because of burnout, uni obligations and moving out. After a month or so I realised how much more fun I have when I don't play LoL, especially solo queue. I feel like it puts me in the worst mood and makes me a bad person. I also apologise for incidents of me flaming any of you. It happened way too often and I was out of line.

Besides that there are a few other reasons.
The first is that I didn't find a team that fit me well in the off-season. I had about ten tryouts in two months and it came down to two teams, but I made the 50/50 decision to not join any of them. One of the tryouts also left some sort of mental scar on me that definitely "helped" the decision to stop playing.
There have also been some negative things going on with the uni league team that bugged me for a while, but that's a minor point.

The second is that there is so much I want to do in my life that I never get around to doing. Even when just talking about gaming as a whole, there are hundreds of games I want to play that I practically couldn't while trying to become a pro gamer. But beyond that there are so many hobbies that I haven't really touched yet but would like to, especially reading more and writing.

The third is everything related to Riot's decisions and shortcomings. Their balancing, the League client, Clash, Eternals, event passes, and so on. All of this could be good, but it's terrible because of how Riot views its game. Sure, you need to make money, but do you need to screw over your player base, especially competitive gamers? I don't think so.

At this point, I'm not quite sure what to make of the future. I don't even know if I permanently quit LoL. Just thinking about my accounts decaying gives me anxiety. With the corona crisis going on I'm also somewhat limited in what I can do. I might start streaming soon, mainly roguelikes and strategy games. I might finally start writing my own stories and books. I might try to see how for I can get in other competitive games. I'm not sure, as I said. But what I know for certain is that I feel a lot better than I did before.

If anyone thinks about quitting League, I would recommend you do it. As I said, I feel much better without the constant stress and I think it will get even better.

I want to end this with "a few" shoutouts:

Thanks to @DCG_Riemt for inviting me to play with @Frozen_Renga @Finalo_lol and DCG Storm and Hydra at the 2019 MLP Legends tournament. It was a cool weekend and it really ignited the competitive flame in me, at least for a year. It is still also my only first place finish ...

Thanks to @Tiltzx @Accziz @Yupwulf @Mirbs_lol @WaldanGG for being the best team mates I could wish for. The time with you guys, especially the weekend in Oslo, was amazing. For sure the best period of my LoL career. I hope you can achieve your dreams!

Thanks to @xSaltyLoL @StarsurgeLOL @LoL_Deniz1 @HolzbeinJenkins for being good friends that I had a lot of fun with. Without LoL I wouldn't have met you, so that's something good about it at least.

Thanks to @Sleepinglol1 @YamatosDeath @TolkinLoL @RANGERZXD @thebausffs @LolMalice @LSXYZ9 @RushLoL for educational and highly entertaining streams. You don't know me but I always felt at home watching your streams. I wish you even more success with streaming / competitive gaming.

Thanks to @Sky_LoL_At @Valkyr1ex @rulfchen @MrOrxata for helping me with my LoL career. I could always count on you for solid advice when I didn't know how to handle something.

Thanks to @anwaltero @Jakobobbi @NovachronoLoL @Valkyr1ex @Finalo_lol @LowNleyLoL and the others for the great German meme community. Twitter wouldn't be half as fun with you!

Thanks to @ScortoCast @ProbablyCast @Pixavislol for introducing me to the world of esports casting. You helped me out a lot and I got opportunities that I wouldn't have gotten by myself.

Thanks to @RevalLoL @lol__kamon @Autophil_lol @ScortoCast @ProbablyCast @Pixavislol @TheStuii @DCG_Riemt @Handygamer @premiumsushilol @LolSayna and all the others who made the uni league into a fun community.

And last but not least thanks to @FlyingHLol @traptrixsuzuya @Downfall603 @cM_GuardiaN @DerZero01 @tinvinnn for being a great uni team. The time we spent together was fun, even if we had our disagreements. I only wish we would've actually won something or even gotten close ...

(This got a lot bigger than I thought it would, lol.)
(Sorry if I misspelled someone's twitter name or didn't put it in.)
