Cancellation of Home Sweet Home

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you all that Home Sweet Home, the Birmingham regional on March 21st, is cancelled due to the growing threat of the COVID-19.

Many players from many different states had planned to be in attendance, and while the virus is has not had a substantial amount of confirmed cases in Alabama, its ability to spread will likely cause that to change within the next week. An event with over 200 attendees would serve as a huge risk of infection for many people, which could jeopardize many people susceptible to the virus as players return to their respective regions.

I am extraordinarily sorry for the players who had planned on attending the event, especially those who have invested money into hotels and Airbnbs. Myself and the other TO's working on this event truly wanted to deliver you all a fantastic experience. One of the TO's on this project will be sending out refunds to those who have paid in advance at no expense to any of you all (albeit it will take time to distribute all of the funds).

That being said, no resources except time and networking were committed to this event. While we have no idea how long the virus will be a relevant concern, it is our intent to attempt this event again in the future. We, and presumably all of you, would rather attend a great event many months from now with our current funds, than run a mediocre one with stunted attendance now.

I appreciate everyone's patience in the beginning of this dry season of smash. This was a very difficult decision on our parts. If you all have any questions, please let me know, and retweet this for awareness.

Cheers guys
