Team disqualified from @CapsGaming tournament
Attention everyone. A team has just been disqualified and removed from the tournament due to racist comments towards another player. Please make sure that you have read the official rules document on the Battlefy website.
In the Behavior section, Rule 79 & 80 state that unsportsmanlike behaviour in the form of racist, sexist, hate-speech, or otherwise inappropriate language or behavior at any time may result in a forfeit/disqualification from the Tournament.
A player made a racist comment towards another player tonight. This will NOT be tolerated. Please remember that this is a professional setting. Things that you say and do on social media, in the discord, on Xbox, or any other setting have repercussions and consequences for your actions. This is the first major EASHL tournament hosted by an NHL franchise. There are sponsors involved. There is $15,000 of prize money involved, plus tens of thousands of dollars being spent on other expenses to organize this. The first in-person 6v6 tournament event in North America in nearly ten years, and the first to be hosted by a NHL team.
I’m not a full-time employee for Battlefy, the Capitals or MSE, but I think I can speak for everyone involved in saying that racism will not be tolerated. You won’t be warned. You will just be removed. The only way to grow as a community and to move forward in the competitive 6v6 scene is to create a positive and inclusive environment. Over 500 people registered for this tournament. Please don’t be the person that ruins this for everyone.
The tournament has been great so far. We have had competitive games each week, with plenty of positive interaction between players on social media and in this discord. Community members are making videos, podcasts and other Caps Gaming content. Let’s focus on that. Please avoid discussing this disqualification incident any further in the discord.
