The decade is ending, and so is Nocturnal.

Nocturnal will be going on hiatus until further notice meaning we will not be holding anymore tryouts and will not be competing in this upcoming Open Division season. Most of the current players/staff will be going LFT asap to try and get a roster spot for another team that will be competing in OD, all of them are good pickups imo. The future of Nocturnal is still up in the air but it looks as if this is going to be the end. Best of luck to the current players/staff and thank you to everyone who was involved in Nocturnal from playing to ringing!

Why?

- Well towards the end of last OD we lost 2 players and were able to successfully replace one. After our OD finish, we went through a 3 week rough patch which resulted in us moving on from 2 more players. We were then left with 3 players and a little over a month to find 3 more players. After a month of trials, the team didn't really click with most, but the ones they did click were not too intrigued by the team since we only had half a roster. Fast forward to 12/30 and the team still has 3 players and OD signups are right around the corner. It became apparent that Nocturnal would not get the perfect roster we all wanted for OD so the remaining players decided to go LFT or retire from the game.

None of the players or trials are to blame, if anything the blame should be put on me, the owner of the team (Caolo). Clearly I did not put enough effort into finding and recruiting players for the team which is why trials lasted so long. I had a great core of players to build around and I still could not find players at their level to join the team. Scheduling was also an issue, a few tryouts would cancel every now and then which would result in us having to cancel the scrim. If I had put in more effort and looked through each trials background and talked to at least one reference per tryout then I probably would have gotten a better idea of the tryouts and probably could have avoided the ones that were known for being flakey. At the same time, I do not want to point any fingers at anyone or give excuses, like I said this is 100% on me and no one else. I am sorry to disappoint the people that had high expectations for us.

I am still proud of what the players were able to accomplish, a brand new team that was formed 1 day before the 2019 practice OD was able to put in the effort and grind out scrims and finished #21 with a 9-3 record in OD.

Thank you.

- I quickly want to write a list of the people who made the biggest impact on Nocturnal during our run.

- Vinnehh
- Try2Hard
- Calub
- JohnyBurd
- Isaac
- Flutey
- Chopper
- Hina
- Atlas

There are many people I want to thank but these are the people who put in the most work for the team. All of them wanted to get to the next level and put in the time every single week while they were apart of the team. Whether it was getting extra coaching outside of scrims, ringing to get more experience, finding ringers/scrims on extremely short notice, or vod recording 8 scrims a week, none of them complained and always put in their best effort.

I am sure I am forgetting plenty of people and there are so many more that I want to say thank you to but I wouldn't be able to write them all before 2019 ends.

But thank you to everyone who had any part in Nocturnal, I am very grateful for all of you and wish you all the best of luck for the futute!
