Translator -> Commentator -> ???

I don’t think I’ve ever written a TwitLonger before, and frankly, I haven’t been tweeting at all recently because I was going through an important transitioning phase.

TL:DR for those that need it is that I have officially retired as an esports commentator and have joined the company known as Pearl Abyss, the creators of the Black Desert franchise.

I started out my journey in esports as the translator for the LCK back in 2016. It was a grateful opportunity, and I have received tremendous support, both internally and also from our viewers.

This later allowed me a unique opportunity to debut as an esports commentator in 2017. I started out with Blade & Soul, then later expanded my line of work to PUBG, Clash Royale, FIFA, and more.

Being a caster gave me a life that was very much fulfilling. It brought me a lot of financial freedom and also respect by many people in the industry. I wanted this to last forever, but with many things in life, the unexpected would happen.

Other than League of Legends, most titles that I was working on as an English caster in Korea started to see less investing, and eventually, less available opportunities.

One could say that this was just “a moment in time,” but with months passing by and no money coming in, I came to a realization that I wouldn’t just “wait to hope for something to happen,” but I would take the initiative to make life better for myself.

I started turning away from esports to focus strictly on video games. Some may ask, “wait.. isn’t that the same thing?” but the two industries, a lot of times, do deviate away from each other.

With that decided, I looked into various companies to go into, went through multiple interviews, but in the end, I found Pearl Abyss to be the best fit from both ends.

I will be working with them on the Global release of Black Desert Mobile as its Community Manager. You may find me working on different contents for this title in the future, but as for the esports casting events, I have officially retired.

I want to say thank you to all those who have supported me throughout my short career in this industry. I hope to put my abilities to good use in this new environment, and I’m extremely excited for my opportunities here.

And that’s it!

You may see a different angle of me, and that will hopefully be a good thing because I will be working towards showing the most honest representation of myself as I get more and more appropriate situations to do so.

Thank you for taking your time to read this, and hopefully I will see you all in the near future!
