Concerns about the Allied Esports Vegas Minor


So I am writing this document to explain to the public why the ALLIED ESPORT MINOR LAS VEGAS is not fulfilling the requirements that I would have for it to be a competitive tournament that is worthy to give a slot to the winner to go to Six Major Raleigh.

I will go through the player handbook that the players have recieved from the tournament handlers. I will only go through what I personally deem not good enough and I will skip out on the parts which are normal.

Setup complaints

"Monitors: 240Hz 27” Monitors; VA Panel"

Nobody in Pro League plays on a 27 inch monitor. Should be 24 as this is the norm for EVERY other tournament and for every player.

"Players may not adjust audio or video settings on stage as this directly impacts the
ability to broadcast the players’ POV."

Players have never been told which settings they can or cannot use. Almost every professional Rainbow 6 player uses custom settings. Being told that they cannot change anything is restrictive and will put players at a disadvantage. It is too controlling.

Format complaints

"Match Setting Changes Round Count: 10 Round Swap: 5 OT Count: 3 OT Swap: 1"

Everything here is different from what we practice, it is screwing with setups in the regard to how you plan your game, for example what round you play what bombsite. Add back the extra two rounds so it is a normal tournament.

What they have done good here and I no longer can complain about as I planned to do is that now they seem to have figured out that 7 maps in the map pool is the way to go.

Entire qualifier was played on a 5 maps due to... Why have a qualifier on totally different settings than every other event? Teams cannot prepare for this. It lacks proper competitive integrity as teams have planned around consistency when it comes to in-game settings.

But then instead of following up on this good decision of 7 maps. Instead they do this.

"Team A bans 2 maps. > Team B bans 2 maps. > Team A bans 1 map. > Team B picks
remaining map. > Team A picks regulation side."

Which is a "weird" way to ban maps to say the least, but it is one I have not seen before that is for sure.

AND then they change that for day two. So now you ban one map at the time just like any other normal tournament does.

Spicy scrim complaints

"1 Scheduled Scrimmages: Teams are required to participate in scrimmages to help
tweak and finalize ingame configurations. Scrimmages do NOT count towards the
Minor in any way, shape, or form."

"2 Scrimmages will also be used to familiarize teams with the pick/ban process before
Day One."

"3 Scrimmages are setup so teams from the same region are not paired against each
other. Paired teams will not face each other in Day One – Round 1 of the group
stage’s Swiss format."

They are here forcing every team in the tournament to practice against the team that THEY (Allied Esport) decide the practice versus. The teams have no say in this. They are forced to do it. This is absurd. Some teams you don't want to practice versus, some teams might not to practice for their own reasons, they just want to relax or do vod review or plan their game. But no, forced practicing.



In the end it comes down to a lot of things. Qualifiers beeing a complete mess in rules. Lan itself having even more weird rules. Inviting teams on a "first come, first serve" basis instead of their actual position in the league system. For my teams sake it is fine, we didn't plan on going, but this is just not good enough. This event should not give a spot to the Major unless the rules and settings are made exactly the same as those being used in the Major. Having teams qualify under different settings is unfair and anti-competitive.

I hope that the weeks leading up to the tournament that Allied Esport will understand their shortcomings and fix these rules and for the next time not do what they did here.
