Just Roll With It, 2GG, and more
tl;dr can go to both JRWI and 2gg: Grand Tour, GA streams JRWI, NC Circuit, free trip to Genesis, T-shirts!, pls pre-reg.
Hey guys, I wanted to give you a few updates on JRWI! And the 2gg situation, as well as a few other announcements about the future of JRWI.
For those of you who don’t know, 2gg scheduled their 2gg: Grand Tour in Charleston, South Carolina on June 15-16, which is the same weekend as JRWI. This was going to result in lower attendance for both events, and also not really accomplish the goal of the Grand Tour, which was to show off the talent in our region. So 2gg reached out to Starlord and I for a compromise. After discussing, we came to the agreement that 1) 2gg: Grand Tour would continue to operate on the same weekend, however ONLY doubles would be on Day 1, and ONLY singles would be on day 2. That way, people who wanted to enter both Just Roll With It! and 2gg: Grand Tour could do so. 2) Anyone who attends both JRWI and 2gg: Grand Tour would also be reimbursed $10 by 2gg, which covers the entry fee for JRWI. I think these compromises will allow both events to be successful. I plan on attending both, and I hope that many of you guys do too. Lastly, 2gg has agreed to have their Japanese players attend both JRWI and 2gg: Grand Tour if they are funded for The Mango. Overall, I’m glad that 2gg reached out to find a fix for the issue, and humbled by all the support I got from you guys on Twitter/Reddit/Discord. The TO team and I look forward to making this the best event we can for you guys.
Next, I would like to announce that Georgia will be supporting Just Roll With It, bringing players as well as being the main stream for the event with RecursionGG! I’m super excited to work with them, because I know they have put out quality streams at a variety of events. That being said, we are still deciding on the secondary stream, and we will be putting out commentator applications very soon.
I’m also very excited to announce that Just Roll With It! 11 will be the start of a 6 month circuit running from June 15th to January 31st. This will be similar to the 2gg circuit that was run in 2017, however we will be doing our best to have point-qualifying events in every region of North Carolina. I have already reached out to @Robert Dote and @Rodney Faust about including their events in the circuit, and will be reaching out to other TO’s as well. Also, if you would like to have YOUR event included in the circuit, please reach out to me and we can discuss details. The Circuit will conclude in January with a 24-Player Invitational, where 23 people qualify through points and 1 person qualifies through the Arcadian that will be happening in December/January. The winner of Singles at the invitational will have their Entry and Travel/Housing Expenses covered by JRWI to go to Genesis 7! On top of the normal cash prize pool, there will be other non-cash prizes that will be decided before the event. As it is a North Carolina circuit, only North Carolina players (and those that identify as North Carolina such as DirQ and Donquavious) will be allowed to qualify. More details, rules, and upcoming events will be announced very soon.
To help fund the Circuit as well as other JRWI-related activities, I have opened an online shop to sell merchandise. Currently we only have shirts, but the profits from the shirts will be used exclusively to help make the JRWI events and the circuit better. If you have any ideas for additional merchandise, please let me know. The website is https://kamaran-mcclanahan.square.site but I will also be able to take purchases in person very soon. I’ll be making an order in 8 days so that the first batch of shirts can arrive for Just Roll With! 11, and the bigger the order, the cheaper they are, and the more funds can go to support JRWI and the circuit.
Other things such as Pool Captain sign-ups, bringing a setup form and official schedule for Just Roll With It! will be released soon and I’ll make sure to keep you guys updated.
