Alright so some people had been asking why I'd had Leonard French blocked since apparently he mentioned it and I mentioned he'd said around the Charlottesville tragedy that we'd had a spat and he'd called me a nazi sympathizer. That was false, he didn't do that, someone else did. Remembering incorrectly or not, no excuse. We did have a spat around that time that resulted in me blocking him on twitter just because it was easier than continuing the argument and both our tempers were obviously frayed, but it wasn't because of that, it was over something else related to Charlottesville that he'd misinterpreted and some support he'd thrown behind a troll who was trying to cause trouble for me, without realizing that that was what was going on.

So I guess congratulations, the troll won because he caused a fuss, that's on me, I let that happen. Fact is what I claimed Mr French said wasn't what he said and I fucked up so I apologise publicly for that. The internets crappy enough as it is without people being treated as if they're acting in bad faith when they haven't done anything to earn that. Rest of the personal disagreement is private and will be settled that way, as for the disagreeement on the Campo Santo thing and where the law stands, that's something we covered earlier as per Mr Morrisons podcast on the subject, the Rolling Stone article on the subject and several other industry articles quoting attorneys on the matter and that hasn't changed. They're not false DMCA claims and they're within their rights to do em even if its not a very good idea, it's their right. They're not abusing the DMCA in the way many have before by going after content they don't own or don't have the right to take down and fair use isnt applicable in this case. Fair use is something we both obviously have a passion for and DMCA abuse is something we've both seen and fought against. We obviously disagree on whether this is a DMCA abuse case and so do several other industry attorneys, not to mention the armchair analysts (includes me) that have spoken about it, but that's a debate that should had respectfully and with a view to educating people about a messy and frankly shitty law that is in need of reform to keep up with technology and not over tribalistic social-media spats where people are just cheerleading "their guy" and "their team".

Sorry once again Mr French.
