Interesting process figuring out which parts of Halo Wars 2 are that way because they benefit a more casual RTS player and which are that way simply due to questionable design. Trying to disconnect myself from 6+ years of competitive StarCraft and look at it from the perspective of somebody looking for a less competitive RTS experience. Some missing features arguably affect everyone negatively regardless of skill level. Some features and design elements on the other hand may annoy an experienced competitive RTS player but be helping hands to more casual players. Gotta be careful not to confuse the two.
