Heading this off at the pass before people decide to run with it. "Nothing but the facts on Iwata? Wow, I guess TB does hate Nintendo." I'm not much of a follower of Nintendo. I never owned one growing up, in fact my first Nintendo console was a Wii. I don't pay a great deal of attention to Nintendo's "to the fans" media, I rarely watch Nintendo Direct unless there's something particularly interesting about Fire Emblem in it. I frankly know very little about Mr Iwata beyond what everyone else knows. It would be incredibly sleazy to pretend otherwise. It's easy enough to wax lyrical about someone after their death and pretend that you were such a huge fan of them, but it's also horribly dishonest. Let the people who actually followed his career and were real fans of Nintendo write the eulogies. There are some people more than capable of doing that, able to articulate genuine feelings of grief and admiration for the man, based on their indepth knowledge of him and his career. I'm not one of those people and I'm not going to pretend to be, it's disrespectful. There are some people I can speak at length about because I felt like I knew enough to do so. I listened to Ryan Davis for years on the Bombcast and when he passed I felt at least like I had something a little worthwhile to say. In Mr Iwata's case, I have nothing of value to add, so I reported the facts and nothing more, then played a little musical tribute at the end of the show. I don't know what else people were expecting, but I'm pretty disgusted by the claims that I "hate Nintendo" and that's why I stuck to the facts only.
