Creativity is not only borne out in originality. It is also borne out in what one does with something intimate and familiar. For example, many films have dealt (poorly) with the rise of artificial intelligence and its Promethean implications for humanity, but few have done it as well and as convincingly as #ExMachina, a riveting, seductive, thrilling and harrowing take on the Frankenstein myth.
