After a year and 2 months, I'm afraid that we are saying goodbye to Maya, our Shiba Inu. She has had anxiety issues prior to our adding Kumo to the family. Even after being away for an extensive 8 week training program, she came back a bit more confident but still showing aggression towards other dogs due to her nerves. It slowly became clear to me that I needed to stop being selfish and provide her with what she needs, a single-dog household. A friend of the family who we have known for over 20 years has graciously offered to take Maya into her home where she will be able to go out for extremely lengthy walks that will allow her to get rid of her anxious energy and leave room for the love she deserves. I am so terribly sad to say good bye to her, but I am happy to know that she is going to a good home where she will be properly cared for.
