@TheNYRA This is your man David Jacobson, the one you just cleared from any "wrongdoing" in the DEATH of Toque. Hope you are all proud of yourselves, you cleared him with those facts? Quite sad and pathetic.

To the NYRA, everyone at Drawing Away Stable, and any other owners that feel comfortable trusting this man with your horse, here is David Jacobson, New York's record breaking leading trainer, past record, hope you are all proud:

Jacobson did quite well until a horse he trained, Hugable Tom, foundered and died. Charged with animal cruelty, Jacobson was suspended by the racing board. “It was a misunderstanding,” he said. “What I did was similar to what happened with Barbaro. He had a bad knee, I tried to save him, and the laminitis came on quickly. I did not abuse this race horse.”’ The stewards investigated and disagreed—they took away his racing license in 1981… and now he’s back, and let’s look at the results (read it and weep and remain aware that Jacobson has tons of money):

01/02/2014 Trainer David Jacobson, owner David Jacobson and Drawing Away Stable. Horse, 7YO gray gelding Uncle Smokey (24 starts 2-5-5, earnings $153,136) broke down during an ALW, EUTHANIZED ON THE TRACK at Aqueduct. **ANYONE WITH HALF AN OUNCE OF ETHICS COULD HAVE SEEN BY LOOKING AT THIS GELDING’S HISTORY THAT IT WAS A DEAD HORSE WALKING.** All the ingredients are here: (1) aged gelding; (2) history of unsoundness and layups, did not start from 01/06/2012 until 05/31/2012—followed by another lengthy lay-up—**DID NOT START FOR ALMOST A YEAR, FROM 05/31/2012 UNTIL 07/07/2013—DID NOT RACE AGAIN FOR THREE MORE MONTHS**; (3) never had a trainer with a clean record including but not limited to John Toscano who brought the gelding off the year-long lay-up, ran it in July, then dropped it in for a $15K tag on 10/05/2013 allowing Jacobson to claim it; (4) Hard-used off the claim, running on 11/02/2013, *FOURTEEN DAYS LATER on 11/16/2013, *THIRTEEN DAYS LATER on 11/29/2013—three starts in November, 2013—back on 12.28/2013, *TEN DAYS LATER ON 12/28/2013… and dead on the track January 1, 2014… I WILL TELL YOU HOW THIS LOOKS TO ME: DAVID JACOBSON SERVED AS THIS 7YO GELDING’S EXECUTIONER, AND JOHN TOSCANO HANDED HIM THE AXE.

12/26/2013 Trainer David Jacobson, owner David Jacobson. Horse, 4YO colt Coronate (4 starts 0-1-1) stumbled after finishing 6th in a MSW, jockey fell off, horse tried to jump the rail, fell back, EUTHANIZED ON THE TRACK. Came from Brett Calhoun’s barn where it had run 11/02/2013 and 11/23/2013, not claimed but went to Jacobson where it ran 12/18/2013 and RAN AGAIN THIRTEEN DAYS LATER. People will say this was an “accident.” I disagree. The colt ran poorly, looked off, stumbled after the wire, and wanted only to get back to his stall. Sore, tired horses do desperate things… dead at Aqueduct.

08/30/2013 Trainer David Jacobson, owner David Jacobson and Drawing Away Stable. Horse, 7YO gelding Saginaw (41 starts, 21-6-3, earnings $974,690) pulled up, vanned off, RIGHT FRONT SESAMOIDS FRACUTRED… EUTHANIZED. This 7YO gelding had won the John Morrissey Stakes TWENTY-NINE DAYS EARLIER… Jacobson claimed Saginaw for $30K on 03/08/3012 as a 6YO. After the claim, Jacobson ran the gelding *THREE TIMES IN MARCH OF 2012. He ran him *TWICE IN MAY OF 2012, on 05/19/2012 in an ungraded stakes and then *NINE DAYS LATER IN THE G1 METROPOLITAN (finished 6th, sadly outclassed) … didn’t start again until 08/01/2012. Who does that? Who takes a 6YO gelding who is a real racehorse, one who gives it his all, and throws him into a G1 race where the horse will push himself beyond his physical ability so as not to be left behind? WHO DOES THIS? If poor Saginaw’s sesamoids weren’t starting to go prior to that stupid, irresponsible, egotistical little stunt, they sure as hell were afterwards. Sesamoids don’t shatter for no reason. Fractured sesamoids are not the result of the mythical “bad step.” Sesamoid injuries are directly related to training and racing intensity. It is no accident that trainers who get their rocks off on bullet works lose more to sesamoid fractures than do trainers with right-sized egos… dead at Saratoga.

01/06/2013 Trainer Rudy Rodriguez. Horse, 4YO colt Bomber Boy (only 18 lifetime starts, earnings $146,554), claimed from *DAVID JACOBSON ON 11/09/2012. The colt went wrong running in a $25K AOC for Rodriguez (who should have known better), pulled up at the ½ mile pole, VANNED OFF WITH HIS RIGHT FRONT SESAMOIDS FRACTURED… EUTHANIZED. Bomber Boy began his career with Nick Zito (Robert LaPenta owner) in a MSW at Gulfstream… horse DNF on 04/05/2012 while running for Juan Serey… eventually claimed by Jacobson. *On 06/13/2012, Jacobson ran the colt for a $15K tag and won (purse for 1st in a $15K CLM was an obscene $16.8K). *On 07/04/2012, JACOBSON ran him for a $30K tag, finished 2nd at Belmont. *ELEVEN DAYS LATER, JACOBSON RAN HIM FOR $30K AT MONMOUTH, FINISHED 3RD. *ON 08/11/2012, JACOBSON RAN HIM FOR $20K AT SARATOGA, FINISHED 5TH. Two months later on 10/17/2012, in for $15K at Belmont, finished 2nd. Eleven days later on 10/26/2012, he’s back up to running for $30K, finished 3rd. On 11/09/2012, *STEEP CLASS DROP, running for a $14K tag, finished 1st out of ten by 5 and ¾ lengths. *CLAIMED OUT OF THAT RACE from DAVID JACOBSON… by Rudy Rodriguez who, as stated above, would have known that he was claiming a catastrophe if he had half a brain in his little ex-jockey head. Rodriguez ran him 20 days later on 11/29/2012 in an a $50K AOC, not in for the tag. Bomber Boy won the race… came back in a similar race 01/06/2013… and now he’s dead. So who’s the real killer? How about (e) all of the above? Aqueduct.

07/20/2012 Trainer David Jacobson $3000 reduced to $1500 (reduced because he agreed not to appeal) for FAILURE TO TEND TO BUSINESS IN A PROPER MANNER WHICH NECESSITATED THE VOID OF CLAIM OF HORSE METARUS, 3rd place finisher in the 1st race 07/14/2012. Belmont.

11/23/2011 Trainer David Jacobson, owner David Jacobson and Drawing Away Stables. Horse, 3YO gelding D J’s Revenge (7 starts 1-1-2, earnings $29,640) broke down during a $15K CLM… EUTHANIZED ON THE TRACK. *NOTE: this gelding DNF its previous start on 09/17/2011. Prior to that, a *THREE-MONTH LAY-UP. Dead horse walking… Aqueduct.

09/14/2011 Trainer David Jacobson. Horse, Jeanbaptiste Corot, colic… EUTHANIZED. Aqueduct.

07/25/2011 TRAINER, DAVID JACOBSON $500 FAILURE TO REPORT LEMON DROP ON TOP TO THE ASSEMBLY BARN FOR THE 9TH RACE. Saratoga.

01/31/2011 Trainer David Jacobson, owner Western Resources Racing and Douglas Jacobson $5,000 CLENBUTEROL OVERAGE. Horse, Flaming Punch, race date 09/24/2010, DQd from 1st to last in a $3.5K CLM. Thistledown.

11/14/2010 Trainer David Jacobson. Horse, 5YO Billy Bear fractured right front sesamoids training… EUTHANIZED. Claimed off Rudy Rodriguez on 08/17/2010, almost three months in the Jacobson barn, never started for Jacobson. Gee… I wonder why not? Aqueduct.

05/06/2010 Trainer David Jacobson. Horse, 5YO Check It Twice (14 starts 4-3-4, earnings $190,480). Fractured right hind, vanned off from a $12.5K CLM… EUTHANIZED. After winning the What A Pleasure Stakes on 12/01/2007 as a 2YO, this horse made one start as a 3YO and two starts as a 4YO. Claimed COMING OFF AN ELEVEN-MONTH LAY-UP by Jacobson on 08/16/2009 for $25K. Jacobson ran the horse 12/03/2009, 01/10/2010, 01/31/2010 (*THREE STARTS IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS FOR A 5YO COMING OFF A LAY-UP*), 03/09/2010, TEN DAYS LATER on 03/19/2010, 04/17/2010 and less than a month later, the horse’s 14th and final race on 05/06/2010 when he tried to unload it for $12.5K… Died at Belmont.

03/21/2010 Trainer David Jacobson. “… fined $500 for failure to tend to business in a proper manner which necessitated a scratch in the 1st race at Aqueduct Racetrack on March 21, 2010. …contributed to the cancellation of the 1st race at Aqueduct Racetrack on March 21, 2010.” Horse, Have You Ever.

01/31/2010 From the DRF: “In 1982 DAVID JACOBSON… was forced to surrender his trainer’s license to the state after he was charged with FAILING TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE FOOD AND MEDICAL ATTENTION TO THE HORSE HUGABLE TOM, WHO WAS EUTHANIZED ON SEPT. 28, 1981… went into the real estate business… Since his return, Jacobson has won 142 races from 909 starters including 43 races this year.At the current Belmont fall meet, Jacobson has 4 wins, 7 seconds, and 5 thirds from 24 starters.” David Jacobson is the son of legendary, notorious horseman Howard “Buddy” Jacobson. Five-time leading trainer in New York in the 1960s, Buddy was convicted of murder in 1980 in the infamous Melanie Cain love-triangle slaying. He died in prison in 1989 at age 58. [Claim gamer with 42% win rate after 25 years away from the biz? How… odd.]

10/10/2009 “Trainer David Jacobson is serving a 15-day suspension issued by the Maryland Racing Commission after one of his horses [Midwatch] tested positive for an OVERAGE OF PHENYLBUTAZONE… after winning a race [1st race] last month a Laurel Park. … Horse DQd… Jacobson’s horses will run under the name of trainer Diane Balsamo.” [From the DRF.]

11/21/2009 Trainer David Jacobson, owner Jacobson Racing. Horse 5YO Yes He’s the Man went wrong in $7.5K CLM, fractured both left front sesamoids, EUTHANIZED. Aqueduct.

09/23/2009 Trainer David Jacobson BUTE OVERAGE, two week suspension. Horse, Midwatch. Laurel Park.

09/09/2009 Trainer David Jacobson “You are hereby fined $2500.00 for running horse The Mayor at Penn National Race Course on September 9, 2009 in violation of New York State Racing and Wagering Board rule 4038.4.” [VIOLATION OF CLAIMING RULES.] Aqueduct.

08/23/2009 Trainer David Jacobson, owner Jacobson Racing. Horse, Victorious Dream (9 starts 2-1-3, earnings $60,347). *LAMINITIS… *EUTHANIZED. The filly’s last race was a 5th place finish on 04/15/2009. Aqueduct.

03/07/2009 Trainer David Jacobson. Horse, 7YO gelding Military Major (42 starts, winner of Oklahoma Derby at 3, earnings $344,197) fractured the left front in a $7.5 CLM, vanned off… EUTHANIZED. Came from the barn of Bruce Levin who ran him on 10/09/2008 (3rd), 10/18/2008 (9th) and 10/31/2008 (1st). *On 11/28/2008, the gelding was running at the $20K level, still with Bruce Levine, finished 8th out of nine. *On 01/15/2009, Levin ran the gelding for a $10K tag, finished 2nd, claimed by David Jacobson for Jacobson Racing. *EIGHT DAYS LATER on 01/23/2009, Jacobson ran the gelding in a $14K CLM, finished 1st. On March 7th, Jacobson dropped the gelding in for a $7.5K tag. POOR THING BROKE DOWN SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING THE GATE… SHATTERED A FORELEG, ACCORDING TO THE STEWARDS’ MINUTES. *NOTE: like the vast majority who suffer catastrophic breakdowns, Military Major had a lengthy lay-up in his past—did not start from 04/22/2006 to 09/27/2006. Furthermore, NOT A SINGLE ONE OF HIS PREVIOUS TRAINERS HAS A CLEAN RECORD. Not one… and so, the gelding died at Aqueduct.

02/21/2009 Trainer David Jacobson, owner Jacobson Racing. Horse, 9YO gelding Unigold (41 starts 5-9-10, earnings $214,798) broke down… *EUTHANIZED ON THE TRACK AFTER MAKING HIS FIFTH START IN THE YEAR 2009. This horse was literally RUN TO DEATH: Jacobson started him on 01/03/2009, 01/15/2009, 01/24/2009, 02/05/2009 and on 02/21/2009 when he broke down so catastrophically that he had to be immediately euthanized. What a horrible ending for a 9YO racehorse: dead on the track at Penn National.

02/21/2009 Trainer Diane Alvarado. Owner JACOBSON RACING. Horse, YO filly Rev It Up Rhonda (4 starts—ran 1st on 11/07/2008, 1st on 11/20/2008, 2nd on 01/18/2009, DNF on 02/21/2009) broke down on the backstretch… *EUTHANIZED ON THE TRACK. Gulfstream.
