An Amazon affiliate link has snuck its way into my video description. Why? Be sure to expand this tweet!
Basically things are a bit shaky on youtube. The are making changes for content creators (check my latest Northrend vlog for details). Basically the changes will mean that quite a few of my videos will not be monetized from a few hours to a few days after release. This could be a pretty big issue since I rely on youtube earnings to pay the rent and the necessary hardware for youtube.
In order to counteract this I am going to put a few affiliate links in the video descriptions. The way these work is that if you buy something after using the link I get a very small cut (like 2-5% usually). It is of course 100% optional and I would never encourage someone to purchase something just to support me, though if someone were to use my link to purchase an item they already wanted I would be greatly appreciated.
These youtube changes are bringing a lot of uncertainty into the space so this is an important contingency to have in place. Ill be keeping an eye on this as we go forward and will ensure everything is done in a transparent and 100% unobtrusive way.
