@Hannafriden because this is easier than 2359832985 more tweets on the subject. Whatever Jesse has said on Twitter is irrelevant to me. Twitter is for bullshit. What he has said in a substantive arena with real words coming out of his real mouth is what counts. This is how this thing inevitably went down, because it's how it always goes down. It's how it's gone done with me in the past too.

1) Someone with an audience makes a tweet that is not 100% PC. Most likely due to character restriction or a simple lack of full understanding of the millions of things that people can get offended over these days. He means well but has perhaps not expressed himself in the clearest fashion (which is why Twitter is terrible because it does not give you enough space to cover all possible angles)

2) Trolls attack, seeing this as an opportunity to exact "justice" on someone they view as "problematic". These tweets will come in perhaps with some legitimate concerns from regular fans as well, which muddies the water significantly. They will come in thick and fast, leaving the person confused and on the defensive since they feel they are being ganged up on.

3) Person will try and defend themselves. Trolls have already won by this point since they got the person on the defensive.

4) Trolls continue to hammer home with accusations. Usually extremely vile and toxic, may also involve threats

5) Person having realised that these are trolls, attempts to get a rise out of them by tweeting further inflammatory statements to antagonize. He feels justified doing so because the people who attacked him are being assholes.

6) Situation continues to escalate. Person will eventually stop because it's not worth the trouble.

This is how it goes down. When it comes to Jesse, I don't think you could possibly claim that he is sexist. The words from his mouth in this recent podcast should be solid proof of that. What you say on Twitter/Tumblr in result to trolls pushing your buttons should not be held to the same standard as the opinions you put forward.
