People of faith are always confident their faith is the right faith. But when you get them all in a room together, you quickly find that they all believe contradictory things; they can't possibly all be right. But that doesn't stop each of them from believing that they are the only ones who chose correctly. All last week, NPR interviewed people of various faiths about their views of the afterlife. The talks are fascinating, moving, exasperating, silly and so obviously, taken as a whole, the very embodiment of human wish fulfillment.
