There are more than 900,000 known species of insects on the planet. That's more than 75% of all animal species. And some entomologists think there may be an order of magnitude more, yet to be discovered. Of these insects, the beetles have the greatest number of species, constituting 350,000–400,000 different kinds. “If one could conclude as to the nature of the Creator from a study of creation," said evolutionary biologist, J.B.S. Haldane, "it would appear that God has an inordinate fondness for stars and beetles.”
