Everything within me leaps with unfettered joy and dumbstruck awe at the stories of exquisite kindness and radical bravery committed by human beings in reaction to last week's barbarity. I choose not to judge my species by acts of repugnant violence, but rather by the acts of outrageous and oft times heroic compassion that arise in response to them.
