"Friday changed everything," said former Republican congressman and NRA poster child Joe Scarbourough. "It is time for Congress to put children before deadly dogmas." Joe Manchin III, the pro-gun-rights West Virginia senator has said “everything should be on the table” as gun control is debated. Kentucky Representative John Yarmuth, a moderate Democrat, backs new legislation. Senator Mark Warner of Virginia called the episode a “game changer.” And several of my staunchly pro-gun friends wrote me this weekend to say they have switched sides. Are we finally--after Columbine, after Arizona, after Aurora, after mass shootings that occur, on average, every two and a half months in this country--seeing movement on this critical issue?
