#ActOfValor isn't so much a movie, as it is a #Navy recruiting commercial. But it is a damn worthy commercial. Like those religious companies that edit anything offensive out of movies and deliver truncated products, so too would "Valor" be a superior, if far shorter and more confusing, film without the inept personal moments. But the very thing that makes those human moments ring false – the fact that active duty Navy SEALs are playing active duty Navy SEALs, and not actors – is also what makes the testosterone soaked action sequences – let's be honest, the true reason for the film in the first place – utterly superlative. Gorgeously shot (on SLRs no less!) and staged, I enjoyed this film far more than I anticipated.
