Dear Disneyland (and all those who insisted I was not too old to enjoy the house that Mickey built): I get it now. I truly do. I was expecting people in costumes running around a traditional amusement park. I was not expecting each ride to be its own completely immersive, self-contained, movie biosphere. I wasn't expecting rides built around immaculately crafted stories in which the rider is instantly transported directly into a specific film. I oftentimes felt like Jeff Bridges in "Tron" -- zap! and suddenly I'm waking up in another world. Well played, Mouse. Well played. That said, I think I certainly enjoyed it more going with friends with kids -- emotionally piggybacking off their experience really paid off.
