From a friend--a comment from son to father:
"I am surprised that you continue to vote for the party that takes us into the most wars but then does the least for our veterans. I am surprised that you continue to vote for the party that (and the numbers don't lie) continually presides over the periods of worst economic growth and prosperity. I am surprised that you continue to vote for the party that claims to want "freedom" for all but then marginalizes minorities, women, and other populations. I am surprised that you continue to vote for the party that does the least for education. I am surprised that you continue to vote for the party that does the least for the environment. I am surprised that you raised me to value the arts to the point of making a career in it and then continue to support a party that does not. I am surprised that you taught me to value truth and honesty yet continue to vote for the party that maintains a full-time "news" network whose only job is to peddle lies and spin untruths that cloud the judgement of the very people who support them. I am surprised that you continue to vote for the party that refuses to agree to work together simply because they are not 'in power.' I am surprised that you continue to vote for the party whose constituents actually consume the largest portion of the public support programs you claim are ruining the country. I am surprised that you continue to deride the party whose constituents supports those programs - a constituency that demographically is made up of more highly educated populations that are LESS dependent on those programs that they actively support, even though the beneficiaries are more often from the opposing camp..."
