Remember the good old days when your church taught you Mormons were part of a cult, when your parents insisted they were worse than unbelievers because they took the truth and twisted it, when your private school equipped you with theological smackdowns should one ever come knocking on your door? But my, what strange bedfellows politics makes. Glenn Beck? An undaunted and righteous proclaimer of God's truth. Mitt Romney? Bringing God's Word back to its rightful place of dominance in the public sphere. Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that were the Democrat the religious outlier, Graham and his cronies would not have been so quick to "not wish to participate in a theological debate about something that has become politicized during this campaign." I'll remind them of this admirable eagerness to compromise the next time they assert one does not compromise on God's truth for anything.
